Product Description

Amazon.com Review

The 4-quart West Bend slow cooker takes the hassle out of home-cooking, by preparing your meals while you're at work or play. With five settings to choose from, the 300-watt unit takes 2-10 hours and handles everything from vegetable sides to chicken. You can also add delicate ingredients at the last minute or use it to keep foods warm. The technique of the slow cooker also works well on less expensive cuts of meat, so you save money without sacrificing tenderness. Outfitted for versatile use, the appliance's parts can be used on their own as well as in combination. The nonstick base doubles as a small griddle, the glass cover can be used in the microwave, and the nonstick metal pot can go on the stovetop or in the oven. West Bend includes several recipes to get you started and tips for adapting your favorite dishes to slow cooking. The unit measures 13-1/4 by 8-1/2 by 7-3/4 inches, and the pot and lid are dishwasher-safe. --Emily Bedard

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, July 25, 2003
This review is from: West Bend 84754 4-Quart Slow Cooker (Kitchen)
If you like slow-cooker recipes, but hate cleaning the crock pot, this is the perfect slow cooker for you.

This 4-quart slow cooker can make a good size family dinner, and gives the same results as the crock pot type without the cleanup hassle. It is very compact to store since the lid can be flipped over for storage. For preparation the night before, this cooker is ideal, since the pan and lid easily fit in the refrigerator. It is also convenient to store any leftovers and reheat in same pan. The nonstick coating means the pan rinses clean with no effort. The pan can be used as an oven roaster, as well.

There are no disadvantages unless you need a huge capacity. This one is large enough for a big pot roast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buying #2, October 29, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: West Bend 84754 4-Quart Slow Cooker (Kitchen)
I had one of these for almost 15 years and loved it. Getting ready to buy #2. As mentioned in the other review, much less bulky to store than the crock version, and I always stuck both the pan and the lid in the dishwasher with the old one. This can degrade the non-stick surface a bit, but otherwise I had no problems. Good size for a 2-3 lb potroast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, November 24, 2003
This review is from: West Bend 84754 4-Quart Slow Cooker (Kitchen)
I have had this slow cooker for several years and use it at least a couple of times a week. The metal pan is great because you can put it on the stove to sautee or brown. It holds a lot of food...plenty for my family of eight. The glass lid also doubles as a serving dish, and can be put on the cooker upside down so that it isn't so tall in the refrigerator.

It's really easy to clean and easy to transport. If mine ever wears out, I will order another one!
