I bought this appliance about a year ago and have used it a lot. We love it. It works great as a regular toaster, and as an egg poacher. The sides are cool to the touch. I really only have one minor complaint and that is that if you use it to cook and egg and toast / muffin at the same time, the bread is done much quicker than the egg and cools off too much - this isn't a big deal though - just do the egg and then do the bread right after - that works just fine because the egg is nice & hot and needs a few seconds to cool off anyway. All around happy with this purchase.

I'm a breakfast girl. I make a breakfast meal every single day, french toast, fresh fruit, eggs, etc.
So, when I saw this nifty device I was over the moon. Not only did it mean fast food in my kitchen it also meant that there was a chance my 9 yr. old could make his own breakfast. We've had the toaster for 2 weeks. Here's what I've found:

1)Egg pan: The pan is adequate, although I wish it was a bit bigger and felt less toy-like. In spite of the size the pan easily holds 2 large eggs. As some mentioned, the pan does stick a little but it doesn't bother me. You do need to grease the pan before using.
**Update- Within 2 weeks of my original review the pan started flaking. I've only used a light duty sponge on this and hand washed. The Teflon coating is now all bubbled and the pan is unusable. I've never seen non-stick bubble like this.

2)Toaster:
-Toaster & Egg Setting: Cold bread/muffins, however, is an issue for me. When I read reviews complaining about cold toast I rolled my eyes at the boo-hooing. It turns out that cold toast actually does cause me to whine. With the egg/toast option selected, when the toast is done the toaster turns off but doesn't fully eject the bread. The idea is that the heat from the cooking eggs will keep the toast warm. Sadly, I've found that the egg heat is enough to dry the bread out but not enough to keep it warm. When I finally remove the toast it's stiff, has no warm bend to it and the edges have a noticeable brittle, dry crunch.

-Toast only: The toaster actually toasts very quickly. It's annoying that the toaster doesn't pop the bread out high enough, especially English muffins. I have to take a utensil, skew the top of the bread and lift it out. It also leaves untoasted lines on the bread.

My main problem is the egg cup, which has a poorly coated nonstick surface that WILL start flaking off no matter how carefully you wash it.We went through 2 in less than 8 months with the second being extra carefully washed. This was used around 4 times a week so you can figure on replacing the egg poacher after around 75 uses!BEWARE

This is a clever little device. When our old toaster bit the dust we had to find a replacement. I saw this on Amazon and was intrigued. I ordered it and I'm very happy I did. The whole family uses it. It takes no time at all to make a great sandwich.
In fact, since time is of the essence in the morning, I've developed a little routine to try to challenge myself how fast I can make a sandwich.
My record is one minute and 19 seconds.

That involves:
1. putting water in the machine
2. spraying Pam in the little egg tray (the manufaturer cautions about what type of spray to use but so far so good with Pam...and it is needed if you want your egg to fall out gently)
3. cracking an egg and putting it in the egg tray
4. adding a piece of precooked sausage or bacon (both readily available at the supermarket) to the warming tray
5. cutting the muffin and putting it in the toaster, pressing the right button an pushing down the handle..

It does about four minutes to cook after that; but during that time I take the dog out in the morning and by the time I get back in I have a tasty breakfast sandwich. I would definitely recommend this to others.

I like the way you can raise up the bread, to take it out of the toaster. Instead of digging around for it. The controls flash and are easy to see. The poaching section puts out allot of steam, so don't be afraid to put more than a teaspoon or two in the boiling bucket. More is better. I would fill up the cup it came with and put that in. I wish the egg poacher was a little bigger, say for two eggs?

I found an even better way to cook my egg's in the toaster/egg device.... instead of throwing away a can that wet cat food came in, after feeding your pet cats, take off the label, rinse it out good and put a little oil spray in the bottom and use it to contain your eggs. It will hold 3 or 4 eggs. Then just lift out the basket and allow to cool for a few minutes. Then turn upside down and put on a plate.

And while you egg's are cooking, turn you plate upside down and put it half way over the plastic lid of the cooker. Don't worry about covering up the hole, the steam will still come out and it won't explode. But the steam coming out will get your plate hot to eat off of and keep your finished eggs warm.

Don't reach in for the cat can, but lift out the poaching tray with its handle, set aside for a few minutes to cool, then turn can upside down into a steamy hot bowl. Don't forget to use distilled water or deposits will build up. Perfect for
a bowl of soup, too.
