Book Description

This collection of crime fiction by some of the West Coast's best mystery writers will immerse the reader in a rich palette of colors that paints a broad mosaic of crime along the Pacific Rim. Running the length of the western edge of the country from Alaska to SoCal and back, these eighteen stories make their setting yet another character in the plot.

Starting with a foreword written by legendary Irish mystery writer Ken Bruen to tightly crafted stories by best-selling authors such as David Corbett, Steve Hockensmith, Simon Wood and Terrill Lee Lankford, to exciting new voices from the likes of Scotti Andrews and Jim Thomsen, mystery fans will enjoy a collection as wide-ranging and varied as the region itself.

West Coast Crime Wave is the first in a series of crime fiction anthologies and other works published in e-book format by BSTSLLR.Com, a new e-book press founded by Michael Wolf. 4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the time November 1, 2011

I didn't love all of the stories in this compilation, but I liked enough of them to make it well worth my time and money. I especially liked Steve Brewer's story.

Some stories are better than others but overall it is an interesting read. Review for yourself. I think it's a good variety of talent, stories and settings.

4.0 out of 5 stars All good but one! November 1, 2011
By dyno
Format:Kindle Edition
This compilation of short stories is a very good bargain at $3.99!!!
The writing(all but one story) was very well done. The various authors make vividly sketch their characters such that the reader can identify with their varied situations. A couple of the stories were so well written, you can actually experience the increase in heart-rate as the tension builds in the story...very noteworthy considering the "let me leave nothing to your imagination" writing that is bogging down the pulp-mills of today.

A MUST READ? Only if you enjoy variety and aren't looking to throw your imagination aside to allow someone else to dictate EXACTLY what it should see...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pulp Fiction February 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Eclectic, pulp-y collections with some quirky genre-benders. More hits than misses, with a handful of stand-outs from Cameron, Andrews, Corbett, Hockensmith, Mamatas.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun reads November 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was a lot of fun and worth way more than the $3.99 asking price. I agree with some of the comments that not every story was fantastic, but enough were that it made it fun. I'm not really a crime book reader, but this was a good way to handle it. Small bites made for better eating.

These stories were such a great read! Lots of creativity, diversity, and plenty of chills! I especially enjoyed Scotti Andrew's "Blind Date." Her story made me feel much better about a few blind dates I've had!

I love twists and this collection offers up some great ones from some very divergent imaginations. I am looking forward to reading more from these authors, especially Scotti Andrews.

4.0 out of 5 stars A collection of gems January 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
What a great collection of crime fiction...or just plain ol' fiction for that matter. As a native of the West Coast, I have visited many of the locales featured in these stories. The ability to put myself at the scene really did increase my overall reading enjoyment. The collection contains a nice diversity of writing styles. I particularly enjoyed Brian Thornton's "Paper Son," Steve Hockensmith's "Fred Menace, Commie for Hire," and R.T. Lawton's "Sydney Ducks," since I'm a sucker for a period piece. This was a perfect collection to pick up and read during a lunch break or while waiting for an appointment. Quick, fascinating reads that don't require a lot of time investment. I'm also throwing around the word "fusty" a lot more now, so that's been a fun bonus.
