Tight compilation by West Coast Mafia,
By Philip Y. (Israel) - See all my reviews
This review is from: West Coast Mafia (Audio CD)
The "West Coast Mafia" compillation came out in 2002 on C-Bo's record label West Coast Mafia. The album came out the same album Yuk's first compilation on his label Smoke A Lot Records, "United Ghetto of America" came out. You can definitely say that those two are biggest names in West Coast Gangsta rap (I don't count all those mainstream sellouts). Anyway, on C-Bo once again came out with a very solid efford. The album is tight all the way through, no weak tracks on it. There might be 3 or 4 songs tha are less impressive, but overall, this is a great example of what hardcore rap is all about. There is maybe about 2 laid-back songs on the whole album. The rest is hard-core gutter West Coast gangsta rap. C-Bo is of course the star, and he's on every song. As always you get to his his straight to your face, hardcore lyrics. The guy is an OG, what can be said? He's been in and out of prison all his life, but this still couldn't bring an OG down. C-Bo always comes blasting. On some songs he sounds a bit more relaxed, but on the songs that he sounds pissed off - you better take cover. C-Bo is one of those rappers capable of ripping a song apart in one verse. It doesn't get more gangsta and real than this here. This guy isn't one of those wanna-be's, the man is the real thing out there. A true OG. That's rare. You get some quality guests on the album - Yukmouth (of course!), E-40, Killa Tay, Brotha Lynch Hung, Young Meek, Pizzo, Fat Tone, Roger Troutman Jr. and a few others. The album would receive 5 stars for sure, if it wasn't for a few weaker guests who just fail to impress as much as C-Bo and the names mentioned above, did. The production is great all over the album, and producers include Bosko, Pizzo, Mo Betta (unfortunately just one song), Rick Rock, Roger Troutman and a couple of oters, There isn't even ONE wack beat, and the sound is HARD, dark. This album defines the West Coast Mafia sound and it's really different from what other North Cali rappers do. Another album by Bo-Loc you can bump from the intro to the the last song. For REAL West Coast Gangsta rap fans only. You other dudes - go cop Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent's albums, you might finds songs to dance to there. On West Coast Mafia, it's all about the MOB!

Pretty good from C-Bo,

C-Bo returns once again with another album. Heavily featuring many other artists on it (only 4 of the 16 don't have anyone else on them), it still is a good album, not his best but still good. Has about 4 songs that I skip, a few alright ones, and about 7 high quality ones. Not Bo's best to date, but still a good one to have for his fans.

C-BO's second installation of his West Coast Mafia imprint is the best so far. Dont get me wrong, "West Coast Ridas" packed enough firepower to bring down a whole hood. "West Coast Mafia" starts off with three mediocre tracks but make up for it on track four featuring Killa Tay ( fellow West Coast Mafia Labelmate) on "So Much Chedda". This beat is laced with a carribean feel but keeps it gangsta. The next stand out track could be a single ona majour label. "Party Tonite" is a gangsta party classic. Yukmouts unigue vocals compliment C-BO's rugged gangsta style to a t. All in all there isnt very many stand out tracks on this album, but they are very good tracks that compliment eachother to make a four outta five star album. If ur a Westcoast fan youll love this album, if ur from the east coast come dip on our side and see wut thug life is really about.

A review of C-BO's West Coast Mafia.,

West Coast Mafia is an all right C-BO cd. It came around in 2002. For being one of his newer releases, this is a good one. It's also long, featuring 20 tracks total. 1 intro and 3 of them skits. They're good, though. My top 3 most favorite songs from this album are 1,2, and 16. WC, the intro, has a great sound and is a nice way to start off this cd. U No The Rules is a fast-paced song with good, hardcore lyrics. Dub C M'd Out is also a good one. In all, if you like C-BO or hardcore, west coast, gangster rap, you should get this one. You will like it. There's even pictures of him and others and some of his previuosly released albums. Thank you for taking the time and generosity to read my review.

Damh Bo did it again. This album is bangin 16 traks deep with 4 skits. And everyone a them traks is heated. This is one a them albums you can just push play and let it pound in your trunk all the way through. I was disapointed in Bo's album before this"Life As A Rider" But West Coast Mafia puts that album to shame. Go swoop it up. You won't be disapointed. . .

I cant believe i have not heard about this cd untill recently. all the beats are solid and all the rappers are quality. when you have a cd with 20 songs on it you would expect more crappy songs than a cd with less songs, but all the songs are decent and most of them are really good. nobody should give this cd less than a 4
