From the Publisher

L'Amour is one of the best-loved novelists of all time, but his short stories established his reputation in the golden age of magazines devoted to fiction--and his output was prodigious and eclectic. Now comes a collection of fourteen stories, newly unearthed gems that have never appeared in print until now, in this one-of-a-kind collection.

Here is the awe-inspiring natural wonder of the West and the rugged men and women who carved out their places amid its majesty, which L'Amour was uniquely able to conjure for millions of readers the world over. Here are tales which rise as proudly as a mountain peak, and sing as softly as a lone campfire; which pit brave people against both raw nature and human nature; which capture the West with an unmatched power that easily reaches forward to captivate readers in our time. Here is an undiscovered treasure trove of Louis L'Amour stories, never before published in book form, guaranteed to enthrall everyone who loves the great American frontier. --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Irresistible westerns by a master American storyteller., August 29, 1996
By A Customer
This review is from: West of Dodge (Hardcover)
These recently discovered stories by the grand master of frontier fiction offer some of the most irresistible pleasure reading in any genre. L'Amour never wastes a syllable creating vivid characters, authentic settings, bull's eye plots, and timeless themes. Some readers might object to the now politically incorrect cowboys, guns, stagecoach robberies, and silver miners, but that's not doing justice to L'Amour's incontestable storytelling skills. Even if you're certain that you would never enjoy reading a western, give this book a try. You won't be disappointed

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lance Kilkenny Story, July 10, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I found this to be a bit predictable, but still a very good audio dramatization. The characters were well cast, the audio was crisp and clear with great special effects and it played well in a car environment. Lance Kilkenny drifts into town (again) in bad need of a rest. But the town is anything but normal. Soon he finds himself mysteriously manoeuvred into a confrontation with the town marshal, but things are not as they seem! Well worth the purchase price. Run time: 1 hour. (From the Audio Rendition)

4.0 out of 5 stars Vintage L'Amour I waited a long time for this., July 26, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: West of Dodge (Paperback)
I have read most of the western fiction written by Louis L'Amour and found this collection of short stories intriguing. There is a diverse mixture of characters & scenes and you want to just finish a story as soon as you start it. I look forward to reading the other new collections of his works.
