A Must Have,

Rocket Rod is back with a monsterous cd! The song "West Four" has numerous builds in it. It is a perfect tune to listen to while you drive. "Somethin Else" is ripping with slide from beginning to end. "I know" has a melodic flow to it that pulls you in. "Chicago Suite" is a beautiful and soulful tune of just Rod and his dobro guitar. My favorite is "My Heart Struck Sorrow." This song is compassionate and soulful with an emotional solo. The album expresses many moods and styles.Rod is a very diverse player. Welcome back Rod!

Rod Price has created a mature, blues harmony, Church revival of a CD that bristles with energy and thickens the pot of soul stew. Mr. Price lays his guitar on the alter of blues heavan and conjures up some of the best, melodic, harmonious music to date. The imprimature of Rod's slide guitar and Dobro sound is in rich supply on this CD and is very tasty. I'm convinced that somewhere in rock n roll/blues heavan that Lonesome Dave is smiling and tapping his feet to the undeniable beat of his lead guitarist who now strumms the strings of a blues sound pure and true. An instant classic. A must have CD. Thank you Rod for sharing this delicious sound with those of us hungry for a good soul filled musical experience. Please pass me another heaping helping of Rod's slide guitar solo please!!!!

Excellent Sophomore outing by Rod Price. On this CD, Rod stretches out and plays a variety of eclectic numbers that all have his signature sound. You get some great electric guitar, dobro, and Rod's smooth slide throughout this offering. You can hear echos of terraplane blues in "My heart struck sorrow" and "Legally Blind" rocks. While I enjoyed his 1st, OPEN, this CD is more complete. The more I've listened to it the more I have enjoyed it. Keep up the good work Rod.(Add on)Sadly, Rod Passed away in March of 2005 in an accident at home. He was a master of the slide guitar. Put on IT HURTS ME TOO from Road Cases-Foghat and remember how good he was-then pick up this great solo work by Rock & Roller that laid it down.

At last, blues lovers can enjoy original compositions from Foghat's lead guitarist Rod Price. Considered as one of the world's greatest slide guitarists, his raw talent really shines through on this magnificent production. The virtuoso performance on Dobro on "Chicago Suite" and the album's cover track "West Four" are awe-inspiring. Highly recommended- rush out and buy it today!!

All the other reviewers really speak to the genuis that was Rod Price. This is but one man's opinion, this recording is truly a spiritual journey. I believe this is looking directly into Rod's heart. I could'nt begin to tell musically why this is so powerful, but I can say that this recording takes me on a musical journey that I have rarely expeienced. Every song on this cd reflect Rod's creative genuis. If you love blues music or even if you don't, this is a musical treasure.

West Four Rod's Best Music to Date,

I have always been a FOGHAT fan and I was heartbroken when I heard Rod Price had passed away. We lost one of the best Slide guitarist of our time. This album is a lot more bluesy than most of FOGHATS music was...but it's some excellent music! I would highly recommend that anyone that is into Rod or the blues purchase this album.
