West Koasta Nostra,
By A Customer
This review is from: West Koasta Nostra (Audio CD)
This is not only the best Boo Yaa album but one of the best albums to come outta the west in a long time. A lot of the rappers outta the west go commercial to get radio play. True legends dont need no radio play to sell records. The Tribe is keepin it real as always and representin who they really are and what they believe in. The whole album is bangin. Ya dont got it ya better go get it. They got the Gawtti clothing line krackin' too. Doin the thang. Keep representin Damus. Fa'a Samoa.

Samoan crazy glue,

After watching the included DVD in West Koasta Nostra, I truly believe these big Samoans can put the west back together again. Its not only their intimidating size advantage but their musical skills also. Ive been following Boo ya since theyre "Psycho funk" (1st album) days and this is THE BEST CD to date! Let me tell you, if Boo ya doesnt go mainstream with this CD then the music industry has some big problems because I know alot of musicians (Rap or any other genre) that dont deserve mainstream credibility. If its because they are Samoan, and not many people in this country know what a Samoan is, then that is pure ignorance to not market a group because of their race and not their musical talents. Im telling you, nobody will look at a gangsta the same way after they met a Samoan in person or even better, watch them on the included West Koasta DVD in the comfort of your own home (save your dry pants for a rainy day). My girlfriend doesnt like rap but this CD turned her head and now she admits this CD will cross her over along with others who listen to it because of its funky beats and smooth but rough lyrics. All we need is a bunch of Samoans in the south to start a dirty south group, that would be the Sh*t! Boo ya is the best buy for your buck. Get it now!!

This is a great release from the Boo Yaa TRIBE,

Boo Yaa TRIBE, the big, bad-ass Samoan brothers have unleashed a great album, their biggest, most BANGIN' album ever. Godfather, Kobra, Monsta O, Ganxsta Ridd, Murder One, & Gawtti, have attracted the help of G-funk producer extraordinaire, Battlecat (Snoop, Ice Cube), as well as guest artists Mack 10, WC, Kurupt, the slimmest of all shadies, Eminem, B-Real, Crooked I, Knoc-Turn'al, Kokane, Short Khop, Eastwood and Gail Gotti. That's right, all on one record.

This Is A Good Album! The BattleCat Beats Are Bumpin', Which Make Up For The Alright Lyrics That Ganxsta Ridd Spits. The Real Highlight Of The Album Is "911" With Eminem & B-Real. Eminem Sets The Standard By Making A Gangsta Beat And Spitting His Usual Unmatched Lyrics But B-Real & Ganxsta Ridd Follow With Power With Their Verses. "Beautiful Thang" Is Another Great Song That Hits Home With Them Oldie Beats And Gangbangin' Flows. Baby Downn Outshines Ridd On This Track And Proves To Be A Future Star On The Westcoast. West Up!! Buy The Album And You Won't Be Disappointed!!

This album is exactly what the Westkoast needed. Battlecat laced some tight tracks and Ganxsta Ridd delivered some unexpected lyrical heat. This album stands out as their best to date. One of the major highlights on this album is "911 feat. Eminem & B-Real". Eminem set the standard on the song with his lyrics and the beat and both B-real & Ganxsta Ridd matched him(to the best of their ability). Another song that stands out is "Beautiful Thang feat. Baby Downn". This song shows that the Westcoast is still with that laid back old skool style that we haven't heard in awhile. Also, Baby Downn out shines Ganxsta Ridd on this song which shows you that the Westcoast is on the come up. So Buy This Album And You Won't Be Disappointed.

Boo-Ya Tribe aims to revive the West Koast on new LP!,
By Crazy Jim (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
This review is from: West Koasta Nostra (Audio CD)
The Boo-Ya Tribe are certainly a force to be recokned with. Never mind that the massive Blood-affiliated Samoans rate right up there on the list of people that you never want to catch on a bad day, the influence of their music alone is enough to snatch the attention of your casual rap fan. With perhaps their biggest attempt at super-stardom, they certainly pull in an all-star cast which includes Mack 10, W.C., B-Real of Cypress Hill, Kurupt, and even a little-known rapper by the name of Eminem. With a guest list like this, it's no wonder why the streets have been talking about this release. "West Koasta Nostra" is the Tribe's attempt to show that the left coast is not to be slept on when it comes to the rap game. This album certainly has its share of bangers courtesy of producer Battlecat who laced all the beats on the LP aside from "911" which was produced by Eminem. Battlecat's phenominal production ability keeps "Nostra" afloat though the twelve-track disc is so drowned in high-profile guest appearances that it should be billed as a compilation rather than a group album. Ganxta Ridd seems to be the only member who shows up on every track and most of the time, he is lyrically outshined by his guest counterpart. The Tribe's only group cut is the appropriately-titled "Legends" where they speak on their influence on the rap game. The lead-off single for "West Koasta Nostra", a bumpin' track called "Bang On" featuring Mack 10 is a good way to start the album but Mack's WSC partner, Dub-C steals the show with "N Full Motion", the highlight of the album. "911" is a bit average considering that it features verses from both Eminem and B-Real but it's still a hell of a track. Boo-Ya's alliance with Death Row is evident with appearances from Kurupt, Crooked I, Eastwood, and Gail Gotti on three of the album's tracks. Only one of the three ("Zodiak Kreep" featuring Gail) seems to live up to its potentiol. "West Koasta Nostra" is a nice album but it suffers from both being too short and being far too dependent on its major guest spots. The fact that group producer, Monster O did no producing on the LP does nothing to highlight their influence despite their better efforts to showcase it through out both the album and the bonus DVD included with it. When all is said and done, this is an amazing album but it doesn't come close to "Album Of The Year" material, if you ask me.

Tha Tribe's new cd is really tizight. For those that are tru rap fans and tru West Coast riders, they will feel this album. With a number of artists like Kurupt, B-Real/Cypress Hill, Knocturnal, WC, Eminem and otherz. This album provides bangin beats by BattleCat. The BYT definitely did a great job at this album. This ain't only for Samoans because only the realest can feel their pain and lyrics.

big production,

This review is from: West Koasta Nostra (Audio CD)
the tribe goes for a very modern hip hop sound here. super slick production. i really hope they will make the big bucks with this album as i think they do deserve it! the bunch of gueststars should help here. for me personally it is disappointing that obviously monsta o didn't play his bass on that album as i rate him a fantastic bassist - saw them life some years ago, he's truly a monster. the production is typical modern hip hop and some of the rawness of the old albums like new funky nation and doomsday got lost. the voices, rapping or singing, are still great and i enjoy seeing eminem or b-real paying well deserved homage to the tribe. this alone justified to buy the album for me...and of course the dvd. don't get me wrong this is not a bad album, far from it...i just don't rate it above their old stuff. long live the tribe!!

Boo Yaa Tribe is some of the best west coast music in awhile, but is not really that good. Best track on the album hands down is Heated, featuring Short Khop (OH MY GOD!!!) he kills that song, but still NOT RECOMMENDED.
