I love this quirky and funny story of a midwestern transplant who moves to NYC and discovers dating in the city can be a bit more difficult than expected.

If David Sedaris and Sloane Crosley had a dark baby that worked for a drunk Martha Stewart, this would be it. Both poignant and hilarious, you can gay date your way through college and the design industry in The Big Apple without leaving your bed. It is an awesome beach book too though! Easy reading that soothes the soul and inspires the mind. And there is a chapter about a clown named Rapey, and who the hell doesn't want to see that!? Cause there are totally great illustrations too. BONUS.

I'm so glad that I read West of Me! I could see myself in many of the dating situations, and everyone can relate to a bad boss at work story too.

Kyle is a loveable character who has the tenacity to just keep trying to make it work, both professionally and personally. You can't help but root for him!

I'm buying this book for everyone on my Christmas list. I'm also going to share it with my book club.

I heard about this book, and had to read it! I myself just moved to Washington DC from North Carolina - so I figured there may be a few similarities of being in a new place. This book far exceeded my expectations!! While the story carried on from experience to experience, it remained in chronological order and was very easy to read.. so easy that it took me 1 plane ride of 2 hours and another car ride of 3 hours and I was done! Throughout the read, I found myself literally laughing out loud or smiling to myself. Everything was extremely relatable; dating, work, friends. I realized how emotionally invested I was.. and honestly just wanted to be real life friends with these characters. I definitely recommend this purchase to all readers; it was hard to put it down - so I didn't! Thank you Jamie for sharing these stories with the world! :)

Received this book as a gift, and while I'm neither gay, fashionable, nor from the Midwest, I could not stop laughing the entire time. Kyle is a very easy character to relate to and empathize with. His struggle of making it in New York is understood by all of us who have done the same. Syndey is a larger-than-life character that seems to have the attitude of Kathy Bates and probably looks like she was locked overnight in a dime store with a drag queen. I can imagine Kelly the bartender moonlighting as a hacker in 90's movies. Jamie Godfrey could probably publish a book of their inappropriate gchats. Quick, fun read.

Enjoy the ride through NYC and the design industry as seen through Kyle Meyers' Midwestern eyes. Kyle displays true perseverance as he traverses disappointment, obstacles and letdowns. His ever present optimism and sense of humor makes it easy to feel happy for his every success. Southern girl, Sydney, provides a common sense voice of reason, comic relief and friendship Kyle can count on. Can't wait for Kyle's next adventures.
