I purchased this Zogoflex mainly to round-out my Amazon order of dog discs. The rest of my 'flying disc' order was for my 'real' Frisbee retriever (a big male) with a penchant for hard frenzied chewing between retrieves... well, so much for the myth of the retriever 'soft-mouth'. However I do have another retriever (smaller female) with a very soft-mouth who will not even catch the harder Frisbees... it was her that I had in mind when I purchased this Zogoflex as its description lead me to believe it was very soft and rubbery. My other dog has shredded other 'rubber' discs in mere seconds and so my intention was to not let him get a hold of the Zogoflex (foolish concept, don't know what I was thinking really). Well, after I got the order in we went out to the park where I decided to 'save' the Zogoflex while we played with the other harder and purported indestructible disc. Over the course of the next couple of weeks the disc-chewing crazy male was actually able to first deformed (he favors bending it over in a taco shape on the return... not an easy thing for a dog to do with a hard disc) and eventually he sliced into the edge in several places making it, in my estimation, too dangerous for him to catch (as in cutting his lip by the spinning sharp edges). So I started him out a second hard disc (as I had anticipated this and bought several) and decided to finally try this Zogoflex out with the soft-mouthed, gentle retrieving female. As was inevitable, eventually the male got to the Zogoflex before the female and began wailing away on it with frenetic chewing... I was sure it would be destroyed or at least cut before I could rescue it..... Nope, when I got there it was apparent he was unable to do any damage what-so-ever to this rubber disc.Read more ›

My springer spaniel tore a 50 cent piece size hole in the middle of the Zisc within 20 minutes. I'm really disappointed. Hard to believe that other dogs who are labeled "destructive chewers" don't seem to be able to ruin the Zisc right away. Good for those dogs and their people!

The good: The "Ziscs" are soft and gentle on a dog's mouth. They are easy to toss and fly well. The dogs love them. The bad: They are no more durable than other discs while generally costing more. The ugly: The so-called guarantee. After the expense and hassle of sending one back (keep your receipt!) you could get a replacement or refund - 1 replacement or refund in your lifetime, regardless of how many you purchase. (That makes it a lifetime guarantee.) That may not be be false advertising or fraud but is very misleading. Find and support a more honest pet supply company.

I bought this toy because it is calimed to be indestructable. Played with my dog for only about two mintues and guess what....it is NOT INDESTRUCTABLE. Paid way too much to find this out. Shame on false advertising and the manufacturer's claims. :-((

If you have a dog who is OK putting their head underwater, GET THIS DISC ...or get a couple. We have a 3 year old golden retriever and have tried every disc out there, and this is HANDS DOWN his favorite toy. He will leave 6 other discs sitting in the pool, but will always clear out the Zogoflex discs. The key thing is the disc's ability to "SORT-OF" float. It floats but isn't overly buoyant, so the dog will often need to "bob" for the disc or circle til it resurfaces. It's a little more of a challenge and one my dog seems to thrive on. It also appears to stand up well to the elements and moderate chewing - - no cracks or tears in over a year of use so far.

Update: We like the way they fly, easy for the dogs to pick up from the ground and won't hurt the dogs mouths when they catch it. Unfortunately both units have rips in them within a couple of weeks but the plus side is that the company will replace them (ones I believe). If your dog wants to chew on something give them a chew toy from either this company or Kong but if your dog like to play catch then this is a good product.

If your dog is a tough chewer, then consider this toy. My dog has destroyed every other Frisbee like toy we've purchased, but this one lasts. The key is the self-healing like properties of this rubber-ish disk. When my dog gets a good hold on it, you can actually see her teeth penetrate the disk, yet when she drops it there is no hole. Its quite fun to watch.

My 1 year old pooch destroys anything we give her so this is a big endorsement. We bought her 2, one for inside one for outside. After over a month she has a small rip in one of them but it still has a long way to go.

Note, it's a little heavy to throw in the house so you'll have to be careful. And your pup might have to figure out how to pick it up by bending it. Ours figured it out quickly.

I'm giving it two stars because, ironically, my dog loves it but I hate it. I am a pretty good frisbee thrower. I had a border collie for 13 years and she was an amazing frisbee dog. My current Aussie is much more temperamental when it comes to frisbee. She is "soft mouthed" and doesn't like anything too hard when it comes to catching. This disc barely floats in the air more than a tennis ball would when you throw it. This disc "flies" very fast, again, almost like throwing a ball and then it falls like a stone so even for my extremely fast dog it's hard to get a throw that doesn't drop really fast and thus is very difficult to catch. Having said that, it seems durable and the dog does love to run around with it in her mouth, whipping it back and forth while she runs like prey. It's sort of hilarious.

So if you aren't concerned about the part where your dog actually catches the disc, you might be pleased with this item. But as far as flight characteristics, it's just way too heavy and the design doesn't lend itself at all to real flight and consequently is not appropriate for "catch" with your dog. Overall, I am still looking for a soft disc that has, at least, minimal flight characteristics. This was, for me, a great disappointment.
