5.0 out of 5 stars A melodic Christian pop album
I honestly haven't read what others have written about this CD yet. But I'd have to say that this is definitely Michael W Smith's best album. I have his greatest hits, but I don't feel that the songs for that CD were especially well selected. 3.0 out of 5 stars Old School Michael W Smith
Good example of Michael W. Smith's initial music. There are some catchy tunes and songs, but nothing terribly fabulous or innovative. I can tell that his music comes from the heart.
Strong early 90's feel to the music; some songs have a pseudo-hip hop feel.
Interesting to see how his music has changed over the years.

5.0 out of 5 stars A melodic Christian pop album, December 23, 1999
This review is from: Go West Young Man (Audio CD)
I honestly haven't read what others have written about this CD yet. But I'd have to say that this is definitely Michael W Smith's best album. I have his greatest hits, but I don't feel that the songs for that CD were especially well selected. This album reveals all of Smith's talents; his ability to create contemporary pop with a message ("Place in This World," "Seed to Sow," "For You"); his ability to make stirring pop gospel ("How Long Will Be Too Long," "Agnus Dei") and his ability to extend his musical reach into hip hop (the sometimes silly "Love Crusade"). Wait on the greatest hits album and buy this first.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great record, even for a non-christian., November 8, 2004
This review is from: Go West Young Man (Audio CD)
I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about Michael Smith when I first heard of him. I'm not really into "God-Rock", but this artist doesn't get weighed down by any titles. "Place in This World" is one of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard."For You" isn't far behind... All I can say, is give it a try...you just might get blown away!

5.0 out of 5 stars I grew up with this, and I LOVE it!!!, August 12, 2004

First of all, this album is obviously an early 90s album, that however doesn't make it bad, just remember where music was coming out of the 80s with a love of all things synthesized, and enjoy the album for what it is. And what it is, is an amazing group of great pop tunes, some of these songs are my favorites by michael, "for you" unbelievable and so much fun, a great album you won't be dissapointed

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Smitty's better albums..., October 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Go West Young Man (Audio CD)
Michael W. Smith comes through with another passionate album in Go West Young Man.

While a couple of hits did make the pop music stations (Place in This World and For You as I recall), some other songs on this album hit a more personal, religious nature.

Seed to Sow is one of my personal favorites on this album. Along with Smitty's fantastic piano playing you have a group of children singing in their native language...quite a sound to hear!!

Angus Dei is a haunting yet touching praise song. This is not like his more recent albums, I'll Lead You Home or Live the Life, and yet its not like his earlier albums like The Big Picture and I 2 Eye. Instead, this album is more in-betweenish and will appeal to those that like the pop genre type of music. and yet are looking for something with a bit more of a religious theme.

Michael W Smith always has the best music. He writes from the heart and it shows in all his music. He never fails to speak to his listeners. I really love his music.

5.0 out of 5 stars MWS at his best, June 29, 2002

This review is from: Go West Young Man (Audio CD)
Wow, so many great Smitty songs on Go West Young Man, including a mainstream hit ("Place In This World") and a praise & worship classic ("Agnus Dei"). How's that for diversity? "See To Sow", with a wonderful chorus and very cool use of an African children's choir, is a personal favorite. One small problem with this album: it's a little too short. Other than that...it's flawless.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Smitty album, September 22, 2001

This was one of the first cd's my family ever got, so we listened to it quite often. Every song on it is enjoyable, and carries a message with it. Of course, "Place in this world" is my favorite, along with the title track. Get this album if you want a Smitty album.

4.0 out of 5 stars A really good CD, Although not what I have come to expect., November 11, 1999
By
This review is from: Go West Young Man (Audio CD)
This is a good CD in a lot of ways but... It is not as good as what I have come to expect and, frankly, Place In This World makes the CD. Without Place In this World I would have rated this CD 3 stars. Don't get me wrong, Love Crusade and For You are also really good songs, But before buying this CD I highly suggest getting 'The Big Picture','Live The Life' and Change Your World. Then you should get this CD.
