My 2 Red Eared Sliders go bananas for these mealworms!! They have their jumpstart in protein. Every time I went to feed them, the turtles would swim really fast, like they were excited to get them!!

For mealworms to be properly gutloaded, they have to have been eating highly nutritious foods just prior to being fed to your animal or reptile. These worms were in transit for five days, packed in a cloth sack with newspaper and a few crumbs of bran. So I dont know how gut loaded they could have been.
Fortunately I bought these to start a breeding colony so they will work fine.
I bought them from Uncle Jims Worm Farm. The shipping was slow. My order was marked as shipped about a week or so before it actually shipped out. When they finally were shipped, they came in a smashed and dented box inside two cloth sacks. Cloth sacks are the most annoying way to receive mealworms. A jar of some sort would have been better maybe. It was somewhat difficult to remove all of the mealworms from the cloth sack, every corner of which they stuck too, and many fell on the floor.
It took two weeks to receive these from Uncle Jims Worm Farm and I will never order ANYTHING from them ever again.
Nonetheless my mealworm colonies are now underway.

Well, mostly my chickens love it. They were healthy and some eventually turned into pupae like expected. I've seen two beetles after a few weeks. This was a perfect number of mealworms for starting your own colony.
