5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Basic Clock
This is a nice basic clock that is perfect for the kitchen or basement. It keeps good time, is quiet, is easy to read, and the battery lasts a long time. It comes in several colors including green, blue and white. Overall, it is a good value.

When you buy inexpensive, you get cheap. I have two other Westclox wall-hanging clocks. This one however came in a box with pins nailed into the clock from the backside to keep it firmly attached to the box. The trouble is when you strive to remove the box from the back of the clock. The pins are flush with the cardboard with small washers that prevent getting something such as a knife under one of the pins, or a plyer around a pin to try to get the pins out. Unable to get at the pins to safely remove them from the clock and stiff cardboard back of the box, I had to resort to ripping it off.

Two very firm yanks later, and I discovered that the second hand is not firmly secure to the face. It is a relatively loose attachment that has a short stem that cannot withstand two firm yanks. Pop! Off the second hand comes, to lay at the bottom of the clear plastic face. When sitting squarely upon the wall, the detached second hand lays across the bottom, interfering with the minute hand whenever it swings around the bottom of the hour. After a good bit of fussing (more time than this clock is worth), I am able to get the detached second hand to lay enough out of the way so that the minute hand can actually move around the entirety of its rotation.

Of course, it looks very goofy with a black line angling through the clock face. Because of this, the clock cannot be placed in a public area (the family room was where I wanted it), so I ended up placing it in the garage. I look forward to when the battery dies, and I have to fuss with that detached second hand all over again.

Now I have to find a "real" clock to put in the family room. No cheapie this time, please.

The clock worked for a couple of days and quit, I put in another new battery and it worked for only minutes and died. It is now trash, don't waste the few dollars for this clock.

An excellent clock, especially for the money. I've had it several weeks and it's kept perfect time during that period.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get a clock from IKEA, December 21, 2007

It's a clock.

It's very readable from a distance.

However, the back plastic piece that it hung from snapped, so I wedged it into a ceiling vent and it stayed snugly.

If you have low expectations, you won't be disappointed.

The clock did NOT work out of the box. It is cheap plastic and made in China. Whatever happened to making things in the USA? Oh, right, then companies wouldn't make as much money. It will cost me more time and effort to ship back from overseas than it is worth.
