I just finished shooting headshots for a local theatre with the X-Drop. This thing weighs almost nothing. Sets up in seconds. And looks like a much more expensive backdrop. Its pretty sturdy and gets the job done wonderfully.
If you are shooting headshots or upper torso shots, this this will work GREAT.
If you are shooting full length... you need a longer backdrop!
The headshots I did were shot with the X-Drop about 3-4ft behind the model and I was about 3-4ft in front of the model, elevated slightly above their head shooting at a downward angle with them looking up. I was shooting with a 50mm f1.8 lens and the backdrop gave me full coverage behind the subject. I will post some sample photos later.

It takes just a couple of minutes to set up. Pretty straightforward. Maybe the only gripe I have is that it takes quite some space for the base so that if you have a limited area (like my basement), it might cramp your shooting area a bit.

I am a wedding photographer. After quite a few couples asked about adding some type of "photobooth" to their wedding, I decided to attempt it. My large studio backdrop was too big and heavy, so I bought this, mostly for the portability. I love how fast and easy it is to setup. My only wish is that you could flip it to a horizontal position. This way I could get more wedding guests in the shot. I would have paid twice the price for this feature.

I purchased this because i wanted to have a lightweight and portable backdrop system to take with me on location when I fly. In that regard, it's great. It's light, easy to use and quick to setup. Here is my wish list for Westcott should they ever make a version #2
Make a neutral gray (like Savage paper rolls "TV Gray") that can be underlit to look black or over-lit to look white. The mottle appearance of the mist backdrop is too aggressive in my opinion and looks more like a military camo pattern.
When the backdrop system is set up it's very deep. It would be nice to have an option to set it up without the third (back) leg when you are pressed for space on location.
Overall, I'm pleased. I'm just looking forward to that neutral gray background!
