Product Description

The Photo Basics backlight kit is a perfect addition to any existing studio set up. A background light will not only illuminate your background, but help to separate your subject from the background to give your image a three-dimensional appearance. A background light is a must have for any medium to dark colored background. Without a background light highlighting the background, the background will appear black or solid in color. The Photo Basics Light offers 500 watts of constant light. Put away your meters and slaves, as constant light allows you to see the image prior to capture just as your camera would. This kit contains a 100-watt frosted Tungsten Halogen Lamp. The frosted nature of this lamp helps to spread and diffuse your light for a very natural and soft effect. The interchangeable reflector aims and intensifies the light towards your background. The backlight stand allows you to mount your light down low directly behind your subject. The light head is made of heat resistant glass-filled nylon and features a rear handle mount for exact positioning.

We own several of these at work now. After having bought one to try out, we bought many more. It's cheap, well enough built (not great, but good enough), and it gets the job done!

I was impressed at first until it went out on me. I opened it up and discovered that the blue shell is just a fancy cover for the few wires insides. I fixed the poor connection that fell out of place. A soldering gun should have been used. I got it working after I reconnected the loose wire but then it went out on me a second time even with all wires still intact. The stand is really nice and durable but the light is a joke. This product is not what it's worth.
