This review is from: Westek XP40KC 20-Watt Xenon Accent Light Kit, 4 Pack, Nickel (Tools & Home Improvement)
These look good in my kitchen and put out nice under cabinet light, but after 3 years they completely fell apart with the plastic pieces breaking all over and I had to replace them all. Ironically I replaced them with the same exact product, and thus this purchase and review. If you install these, make sure you run the wires so they are easy to snap together new ones when they need to be replaced.

Easy installation, but they get hot!,

I hung these lights as kitchen lighting undermounted on our cabinets. They put off great light and work really well with the Westek touch-dimmer(Westek A6553CS 200W 3-Level Touch Dimmer for Multiple Transformers, Black). I highly recommend using the two in combination!Installation was a breeze and they put out great light, but they're not perfect. The units get REALLY hot if left on for very long, but that should be expected with xenon lights. This wouldn't be too much of an issue, however the light gray outer piece of these lights is made of plastic that doesn't feel very sturdy. On the other hand, I've had mine up for a few months and haven't had a meltdown yet. All-in-all, a simple and affordable way to add some class to a kitchen! Oh, and for those not sure what all the little pieces are... The lights and the output side of the power brick all connect directly or through the four included splitters with convenient plastic connectors. The input side of the power brick has a pretty long cable and it can be hooked up to a wall switch, you can install a 2-prong plug (included) on the end and/or you can split the cable and install a lamp-style switch (included). Basically it's very versatile for however you'd like to install it. |
