This product is quiet, low heat output and has a small footprint. The only thing I would improve on this is the seek time. It could be a bit faster. But, for the money, this is an excellent buy.

This is my 3rd MyBook external HD and it improves on the performance and space of my other versions. The person who gave it a negative review either has a bad drive (it happens) or did not re-format the drive to NTFS. It does take a bit of time to format to NTFS (about 1 hour and 30 minutes), however it is worth it for you have a faster more efficient hard drive.

I have had two of these drives for about 2 1/2 years and have yet to have a single issue. They work great, turn themselves off when not needed which really saves life, and read/write speed has been very fasy via USB with my Imac. I do not have one bad thing to say about these drives, I have had several Maxtor and Seagate drives fail since buying these. Works with OSX and windows.

I bought this poduct a few months ago and still having problems with it. I could not transfer any file over 150GB with out it crashing and stoping. I had to turn it off and on to get it to reboot. It is slow in the search for anything on the disk you are looking for. evertime i want to use it it is down so i have to restart and reboot the drive at least twice a dayI i paid full price for it and hate it. I am ready to keep all the info on my computer for the network I have set up. Will try to find something better. i do not recomend this to anyone.

I bought this piece of junk for about $200. I just wanted to do a simple backup of my other extrernal hard drive. First install of the software wiped out my computer. I went to another computer and installed the upgrade, which is free, but it will not take your "key" number. So you have to uninstall it, put the original version in and then upgrade. Only one problem, you can't uninstall the upgrade. This horrible thing will not back up file with long file names, PERIOD. It comes formatted fat32, right. So you have to reformat it. How long do you think it would take to back up 170gb to this 1t? Try 4 days and counting with over 300 errors. I will try to call customer "support". But as we all know, you're lucky if you get a person that has a fundemental grasp of the English language. I'll be on hold forever and none will have a clue on how to fix the problem. If you're looking for new and inventive ways to develop headaches, this tool is perfect.
