got it for my PS3. previously a 40gb, I needed an update. Well after installing it cleanly it now has 97bg of free storage. lot better than before.
WB is known for reliability so I'm hoping I won't have a problem. Packaging was IMPRESSIVE to say the least. Believe me, you won't have a problem on that department: Small box suspending the Hdd placed inside a larger box all cushioned. I've bought externals before and never saw this before. This review was made on the day the item arrived and installed. it's not a 5 star because: well where did 20gb go??? I know all drives do this but 20gb? Plus the PS3 keeps the OS on board so that's my only complain so far.

My son picked out this drive and did not realize it was a small (laptop) size drive. He needed a drive for his desktop computer. I purchase a adapter so I could mount it in the desktop computer and installed it. My son installed Windows 7 and everything worked great. I would recommend this drive to anyone one looking for a great replacement drive.

Easy to install, had to "partition" to install my recovery system - had never done this before, but there are sources on the internet for partitioning software so took me about a day to figure everything out and get it done. Comes packed in its own little very sturdy shipping box. So far, no problems. Used to replace a hard drive of the same size that crashed, a cheap Hitachi the computer manufacturer had installed. My first "self-install" - and this size hard drive was about impossible to find anywhere else, in stores or on-line.

I bought this to replace a client's laptop's clicking hard drive. Cheatest drive I could find + shipping. I mean, all my client did was web surfing, this thing might have even been overkill with 120GB. but it was the cheapest I could find. Been ~1 year and no complaints from them.
Would totally recommend, WD has come a long way. I remember when my WD hard dives would constantly fail, now they're the only company I really trust.

Got this to replace my HDD in my VAIO running XP. Also I bought from Amazon HDE's 2.5" USB 2.0 SATA Hard Drive HDD Case Enclosure. I expected to go to WD's site and download their free cloning software, Acronis. So I plugged the drive into the USB port, fired up Acronis, and Acronis said it couldn't see any WD drives and it gave up. Tried the HDD/USB combo in a W7 machine, same problem so I thought the drive was bad and Amazon shipped me a new one (very nice service BTW). Tried again... same problem.
So what I did next, don't know if it was necessary, was to fire up GPARTED and put an NTFS partition on it. Then sure enough OS saw the drive. But the free Acronis still wouldn't work, so I saw suggestions for HDClone and this software was able to clone my drive. Well, sort of. Making the replacement into the VAIO, the VAIO proceeded to reboot itself randomly. I had to run CHKDSK and several errors were found, but that still didn't fix the boot problem. I redid HDClone in different ways, took the drive to my W7 machine and checked and fixed more errors and then made the replacement again. Yay, so far, no problems. But it took me 2 weeks to get to this point. So maybe I'm just too dumb and it's not that difficult, but I sure had a heck of a time.

I only use WD for my System C:/drive..why the 120-GB's..I normally won't go higher than 80-GB's..this drive may become a Ext. Enclosure HDD..once its upgraded to a SSD..40-GB Drive.

This is the exact same HDD found in the Xbox 360 HDD enclosures and I used it to go from a 20gb one to a 120gb. Worked flawlessly, but was a little more than I wanted to pay for a 120gb HDD, but that is what happens when you look at 2.5" drives.

Got two of those babies. Put one in my desktop which has a SATA II cables, and this drives fits perfectly without any additional cable adapters, but you will need a drive craddle such as this one( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BH3Z8E/ref=ox_ya_os_product). My older 320GB PATA drive is now my data storage and this drive which runs snappy enough on Win 7 Home, is my boot drive.
The 2nd drive went into my PS3 which doubled the space there, and the drive in the PS3 is now sitting in an external enclosure used for backups. Have had both drives for 5 months now,, and they run without a hitch. My storage needs are not dramatic, so these drives offer me just what I needed. loved the packaging they come in also. Well done WD on all fronts.

I use this as a seperate boot drive with Umbuntu Linux for development and fiddling. Works without issue. Inexpensive way to prevent altering the boot sector for occasional users of other operating systems.
