Verified Purchase
I now own a good many `thumb' and `key' drives that I use to move data around from one computer to another. My first had the capacity of only 258 Mb and I still use it - though it is larger than modern key drives at that capacity. Until this current acquisition, the greatest key capacity was 4GB - room to store all my digital photos - but beginning to get outsized by my perpetual photo collection. So, in shopping around for something a bit larger, I came across this Western Digital Passport Pocket Drive< that, with its 6GB capacity, looked like it might be just what the doctor ordered. I compared, shopped, bought and have used it - and I was right!

Overview

First off, it is not a key or thumb drive. It is bigger, measuring Height- .370 Inches; Length-2.410 Inches; Width-1.80 Inches; and weighing in at 1.6 oz. It won't fit, nor is it designed to, on your key ring. As the name of the product suggests, it gets carried in your pocket - conveniently contained and protected by a rubber cover (available in multiple colors) which adds a non-slip quality to the device. A welcome feature after years of various small external drives slipping out of my hand and onto the floor! Both synch and encryption software are built in (as options) and the rotating USB plug is an added convenience as the layout and positioning of USB ports varies from CPU to CPU or from Port-ready screen to screen. It does not have to be removed from the case to access/open the plug and is completely protected when closed from pocket schmootz as well as from the inevitable drop to the floor.

I had to replace mine because I put it through the laundry, and I knew I wanted exactly the same unit. Works great, nice and compact, and the connector bends and twists so that it fits into nearly every USB slot no matter the angle. 6gb is enough to even split it into multiple partitions, I usually had it formatted with one Mac and one PC partition so that I was always ready to go. Can't go wrong!

I'm a graphic design student and I was searching for something small, yet could carry alot of date. Alot of my projects dealing with Adobe Photoshop can quickly fill up smaller 256mb/512mb drives which cost about $35. I picked this one up for 60 and I have 12x the storage space! I like that the connector folds into the body. It's stylish, yet functional because it protects the metal from scratches/being bent. This drive is also incredibly light and fits in my pocket well. I also like the cool blue LEDS on the bottom of the drive that illuminate when the drive is plugged in. The aluminum colored body matches my MacBook Pro nicely as well. Really for 80 bucks you can't find a better drive. Western Digital provides nice quality products, and I'm currently thinking about picking up a 160GB+ drive for backing up my notebook computer from them.

It is very small and fast. Plus 6GB of space is great.
