This review is from: Western TV Classics 150 Episodes (DVD)
MILL CREEK box sets offer good-to-average-quality audio and video transfers of public domain material at a most reasonable price.
The majority of WESTERN TV CLASSICS 150 Episodes is new installments of several television series available on MILL CREEK's previous DVD set, ULTIMATE TV WESTERNS 150 Episodes. Additionally, there's six shows here that didn't appear on the "Ultimate" set. If you don't own either of these 150 episode collections yet, MCE has conveniently combined them into their CLASSIC TV WESTERNS 300 Episodes box set. This 24 DVD multi-pack contains 134½ hours of 1950s and '60s cowboy-themed programming. For an extensive roundup of theatrical western "series," check out MCE's WESTERN 250 Movie Pack. This cowboy king of DVD box sets has such 1930s-'40s movie series as Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Rough Riders, Sgt. Renfrew, Three Mesquiteers, Range Busters, Hoot Gibson and Texas Rangers, plus feature films as recent as the 1990s. It's a marvelous and enormously diverse collection! . The six TV programs new to this manufacturer are marked (**). Brave Eagle (**) (1955) - Keith Larsen (1 episode) Buffalo Bill Jr. (1955) - Dickie Jones (11 episodes) The Cisco Kid (1950) - Duncan Renaldo (22 episodes) Frontier Doctor (1958) - Rex Allen (10 episodes) Fury (1955) - Peter Graves (1 episode) Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans (1957) John Hart (12 episodes) Judge Roy Bean (1956) Edgar Buchanan (8 episodes) The Lone Ranger (1949) - Clayton Moore (2 episodes) Northwest Passage (1958) - Buddy Ebsen (2 episodes) The Range Rider (1951) - Jock Mahoney (12) Red Ryder (**) (1956) - Allen 'Rocky' Lane (1 episode) The Roy Rogers Show (1951) - Roy Rogers (15 episodes) Sergeant Preston of the Yukon (1955) - Dick Simmons (7 episodes) Sheriff of Cochise (1956) - John Bromfield (5 episodes) Shotgun Slade (1956) - Scott Brady (13 episodes) Sky King (**) (1951) - Kirby Grant (4 episodes) Stoney Burke (**) - Jack Lord (1 episode) Stories of the Century (1954) - Jim Davis (21 episodes) Sugarfoot (**) (1957) - Will Hutchins (1 episode) The Wide Country (**) (1962) - Earl Holliman (1 episode) (Thanks to Peter Sykes and Daniel H. Humiston for valuable info concerning this box set.)

150 Episodes of Western Public Domain Goodness,
By
This review is from: Western TV Classics 150 Episodes (DVD)
Western TV Classics is a collection of 150 episodes from 29 different Western TV shows from the days when Hollywood knew how to make great Westerns on both the big and small screens. I paid $21.99 for my set and considering that you can pay $5 and higher for just 4 episodes of one of these shows, you cannot complain about the price. The reason why you can get so many episodes for such a low price is that all of these shows are in the public domain. The quality of the prints used in this collection vary, but overall you will get a fairly decent picture on your screen.
The really great thing about this collection is that it is not limited to the usual suspects, that is shows such as Cisco Kid, Lone Ranger, Sergeant Preston of the Yukon & Shotgun Slade that are quite easy to find and obtain. The collection also includes such hard to find shows as Brave Eagle, Northwest Passage, Range Rider, Stoney Burke, Sugarfoot & Wide Country.

We are sure enjoying these DVDs. Can't beat the price of about 10 cents an episode! Plan to buy more sets of the oldies as needed.

Good guys versus bad guys,
This review is from: Western TV Classics 150 Episodes (DVD)
I have ordered 3 sets of these DVD's for myself and friends. Everyone get's a kick out of the old TV westerns. These were the Saturday morning tv westerns that we all enjoyed back then. To see them now is a reality check as the content was not that great but hey, watching the good guys get the bad guys was what we wanted to see. The quality of the DVD's are great.

Not really disappointed with this DVD was after the Stoney Burke episode, but, boy was the rest old? Never heard of Dickie Jones, Keith Larsen, John Bromfield had to really search my memory to remember Clayton Moore Buddy Edsen etc. Quality of the DVD is not too good, boy can't get over some of the so called Classics. Still I can't complain was after the Stoney Burke. Will the Stoney Burke series ever be released on DVD?
