Using compact CFL bulbs, they are still slightly shorter than the candelabra incandescent bulbs.
The bottom of the housing is flat metal and the candelabra screw portion is TOO SHORT to make a good connection in the socket.
A well-made adaptor that allows a regular size bulb to be utilized in a "christmas tree" size socket.
