5.0 out of 5 stars Tiny fan, moves a lot of air
This fan works great! I installed it last night. It spins very quickly on its highest setting, and it moves a lot of air for its size. The bulb socket is a miniature Edison base rated at 65W, so it may be a bit dim for larger rooms.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Size - Noisy
If you are purchasing this just based on the size and appearance, the fan is great. I think the thing is noisy and has a constant low level hum. I have 4 other Hunter fans in my home and all are extremely quiet - Unfortunately, this was the only one I could find in this small size so I was limited to Westinghouse. It went into my daughter's room and she says that I am the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiny fan, moves a lot of air, September 27, 2010

This fan works great! I installed it last night. It spins very quickly on its highest setting, and it moves a lot of air for its size. The bulb socket is a miniature Edison base rated at 65W, so it may be a bit dim for larger rooms.

I hooked this fan up to a fan/light control switch on the wall, so I wanted to remove the pullchains. To do so, perform the following BEFORE MOUNTING THE FAN and AT YOUR OWN RISK:
* Remove the three screws that hold the light socket over the housing, and pull open the cover.
* There are a bunch of wires and wire nuts that attach the fan speed pullchain, fan direction switch, and light pullchain together.
* Unscrew the fan speed pullchain switch and the light pullchain switch. Yank all the wires out of both switches.
* The black and blue wires go straight through the fan to the other side - they're coming directly from the source.
* To bypass the light pullchain, connect the blue wire to the black wire of the light socket.
* To bypass the fan pullchain, you'll need to fix the fan at the highest speed. Connect the purple (speed 1), yellow (speed 2), and orange (power) wires to the black wire (the source wire, not the light socket wire).
* Keep the red wire connected (that's the speed signal).
* Make sure to use wirenuts on all exposed connections!
* To tidy up the modification, I'd suggest yanking the pullchains out of the pullchain switches (tug hard!), then re-inserting the switches in the housing just to provide a clean (albeit pullchain-less) look to the outside.
* Re-attach the housing cover, making sure the indentation in the cover fits over the fan direction switch.
* When mounting, remember that the blue wire is for the light and the black wire is for the fan.

Notes from installation:
* When installing, do not attach the fan blades until AFTER you mount the motor to the ceiling. The canopy will not fit over the top - it must be installed from below, after you've finished your wiring.
* The fan provides separate light/fan power wires. If you're using the pullchains, connect BOTH blue (light) and black (fan) wires to the HOT supply.

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT NOISY, January 5, 2011
This review is from: Westinghouse 78108 30-Inch Petite Hugger Ceiling Fan, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
I am surprised by the noisy comment. I installed this fan in my daughters bedroom and I hardly notice it's on. It has worked out quite well and the instructions were great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Replaced the Same Old One, April 15, 2010

I found the existing ceiling fan blades stuck with dust and yellowish color.
I tried to find the exact one, but to no vail.
Harbor Breeze's 30' ceiling fan has similar blades but very light and smaller in width.
I found this exact replacement in Amazon.
This item will be a good choice in small kitchen or bedroom.
Even it is 30' petite, this fan generates the ample air flow because fan blades are
a little wider, which looks better in a overall shape.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Fan for a Small Room, January 5, 2008

This fan has worked out very well in my children's bedroom, which is about 10'x12'. But it did require some tricky attic work removing the previous bracket which could not support the fan's weight and torque, and installing a heavier duty bracket. I think this would be an issue for any ceiling fan which is replacing a light fixture though. The fan is reasonably and does a good job of moving the air around the room.

4.0 out of 5 stars Petite Ceiling Fan, 30-inch, Westinghouse, July 11, 2010

Fan is great for a small room or hallway. I have it in the hallway. It helps a lot in circulating the cold air from the air conditioner into the hallway and adjacent small bedroom. This fan replaced the exact same I previously had and remained good for about 14 years. Price was excellent and I was happy to find a replacement fan for my old fan. I like the light which is perfect for a night light in the hallway. Fans of this size are diffficult to find and I was happy to find it at a good price on Amazon. Supplier was great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect fan, December 7, 2011

Cute little fan with a small blade that we needed in a small bedroom to clear the new bunk beds. Ceiling height is only 8 feet. Looks good, works pretty well for such a small fan. I thought the fan and light pulls were cute too. It occassionally has a very light hum but it's not a problem. I did move the light globe around a little to get it to seat better and that seemed to help. I'm very happy with this product, good value for the money.

This fan puts out a LOT of air on the high and medium speeds, as you can tell by the wind noise picked up by my camera while making this video. Not to worry, it's the mic on my camera. The fan is fairly quiet, but isn't SILENT like a Hunter Fan. There is a low-grade motor hum but I like the sound as it helps lull me to sleep.

This fan replaced a 21 year old fan in my 10 x 13 foot bedroom. I wouldn't install this fan in any larger room than the measurements I listed, because on a muggy night, even with the central A/C running, I have to lay right under the fan to feel the air flow (on the lowest speed).

Fairly simple to install, I put the blades onto their brackets ahead of time so the job went smoother when I got around to installing the fan itself. I'm not sure what the blades are made of, I can't tell if they're pressed wood like MDF or maybe they're plastic, but be careful or you will scratch the finish on the fake "wood-grain" side of the blades easily.

The highest watt candelabra bulb this takes is a 60W, I got the clear glass bulbs to put out the maximum amount of light, these are easily obtained at any of the large big-box hardware stores, you may even be able to find the candelabra base in a CFL bulb too.

The chain fobs shown in my video are not included, I took those off my old ceiling fan. I'm very surprised they don't make any noise even when the fan is on high. (The fan does come with fobs, but they are ugly: one has a picture of fan blades, the other of a light bulb.)

I have a 10 x 10 room that need circulation so this works great. Quite, cute and what I needed. It has a light in it so great. This fans has 6 blades why not sure my other fan have 4 blades and works just as good. Buy it if you need it as this price point good value.
