5.0 out of 5 stars bright light for the price
I was given a pair of these as gifts from my wish list. The dark part of the light is matte, almost black, uniform in color. The glass is swirled, white on white. It is more of a white than a cream color, allowing a very white light.

Installation was a breeze, with plenty of wire length to attach to wires from the outlet box. In addition to the lamp...

3.0 out of 5 stars Westinghouse is reliably average
The three-light fixture looks much more black than bronze, but I still like that part of it. To me, the frosted look of the globe is not beautiful as another reviewer said, but slightly cheap. My 4-year-old said upon installation "But Mom, it looks scratchy." But the amount of light emitted is good.
Also, the light bulb sockets are not rigid inside the fixture,...

5.0 out of 5 stars bright light for the price, January 30, 2010
This review is from: Westinghouse 64292 15-Inch Three-Light Flush Mount Fixture, Oil Rubbed Bronze with Frosted White Alabaster Globe (Tools & Home Improvement)

In addition to the lamp itself (finial, shade, base, etc.) the materials provided for installation are:
A: three wire connectors, for the black, white, and ground wires,
B: a new mounting bar,
C: mounting screws, to attach the base to the mounting bar
D: a grounding screw

Not included:
A: an outlet box--not standard for any fixtures, but I list it anyway.
B: the two outlet box screws, that hold the mounting bar to the outlet box. This is also not standard material included with a light fixture, but you may need to buy some if your old screws are stripped.
C: extras of anything. I didn't have a problem with this, but there are no "Oh crap, the dog just ate one of the wire connectors" extras.

My only difficulty with installation was because of a good thing--the insulation was so thick that it was hard to feed the mounting screws through it. I was okay with that, because with 3 60-watt bulbs a light fixture gets pretty hot--and this light has no gap for heat to escape between the base (which they call the canopy) and the shade--so you want some good insulation.

The shade was a nice weight glass--it doesn't feel like it will shatter if you bump it with a broom handle while dusting. The metal canopy was a very lightweight material--very thin--but that didn't seem to be a problem--since the whole thing is held flush to the ceiling, there's really not a chance for the thin metal to bend or warp. The finial has a washer, a hex nut, and a cap between it and the glass shade, lessening the chance that the glass will chip around the hole.

The shade is removed by unscrewing the finial at the bottom, so it's easy to reach, unlike some fixtures where there are three or four screws around the canopy--so changing light bulbs is a little more in reach. The only difficulty is that juggling the washer, hex nut, cap, and finial, the shade, and a lightbulb can be difficult--so changing the light bulb means more than one trip up and down the ladder/chair/whatever.

Hope this is helpful--enjoy the lamp!

EDIT: With the laws requiring us to use fluorescent light bulbs, these fixtures will be a problem. Compact fluorescent bulbs need air circulation, and these fixtures have none.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great price for this fixture, February 5, 2010

We needed a bright 3 bulb light fixture for our master bedroom since there is only 1 window in that room but alot of the fixtures we looked at were pretty pricey. This Westinghouse one was the perfect fit though. It's a great size and with the 3 lights at 60watts, it makes the room super bright even in the middle of the night. The color of the oil rubbed bronze is really classy, and almost appears black at times while the white swirl effect of the glass dome gives the fixture an extra bit of wow factor. Even though it looks like your typical type of light fixture, the price just can't be beat. We were looking at other 3 light fixtures that were double the price or more. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the installation was actually sort of a hassle. There is this huge, thick layer of foam that you are supposed to get 2 tiny screws through into the ceiling, in an almost blind fashion. It was quite annoying and even though I was helping my husband, it still took a while to get it properly installed and our arms were killing us by that point. Other than that, it is a great, inexpensive fixture that looks much nicer in person and more expensive than it really is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Light Fixture, June 7, 2009

This unit is all one could expect from an economical surface-mount fixture. I installed it in my kitchen in less than 20 minutes. It easily accommodated three compact fluorescent bulbs, giving me ample light at an energy savings. As an apartment dweller, I was not about to invest in anything pricey, so this unit served perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brighter, whiter, enclosed (no bugs), December 31, 2010

The only hard part of installation was getting the 2 screws through the substantial insulation layer, and into the top's holes, to lock in the fixture. This fixture about doubled the amount of light from the same 3 compact fluorescent bulbs that previously had only ceiling paint to reflect the light. This fixture has a polished aluminum surface to reflect the light down and the glass transmits the light very well. The fixture is also enclosed, so bugs shouldn't accumulate in the bowl. The insulation is for incandescent use, so I'm quite sure that its over-engineered for CFL heat output.
When we purchased the ALZO Digital photo CFL's, the light from the 3 new bulbs seemed to double again. They are great for kitchen and bathroom use, as the color rendering index is >91!. The new, bigger bulbs were a tight fit, but the glass cover gets as warm as they do (the ceiling stays cool), so I don't think it matters that they touch.
I've already bought 2 of the 11" 2-light fixtures for the bedrooms.

My 4-year-old said upon installation "But Mom, it looks scratchy." But the amount of light emitted is good.
Also, the light bulb sockets are not rigid inside the fixture, as the bulbs are not mounted vertically, but parallel to the base. So I am worried because the bulbs touch the insulation/base of the fixture.

Instructions from Westinghouse are terrible. It tells you to put the fixture screws in the wrong place. And all my fingers itch from the insulation on the backside.

However, I gave it three stars for the price and amount of light. It does look nice on the ceiling now,

This product was a good buy for the price. It takes candelabra bulbs which I was kinda bummed about until I found some 60 watt equivalent CFL's. So honestly I am quite pleased with the final result.
