5.0 out of 5 stars Decent frame, decent price, ton of built in memory, expandable by many cards
I did my shoping around when picking out a digital photo frame, and ran across the westinghouse at a couple of different stores. my family has puchaces 2 westinghouse flat screen computer monitors over the course of the past couple of years, not a lick of trouble. So naturally, I felt comfortable with buying this frame. It is the standard 480x234 display of many 7" frames...

I bought this frame from Best Buy as a Mothers Day gift for my mom. It was on sale for about $70, which was a good deal. My mom's not a very technical person so I needed the frame to be easy to set up. It was - simply insert your memory card and "Voila" instant picture show! My mom was fascinated by the moving pics, but I knew I had made a mistake in the selection when she started asking "why is that one so dark?" or "I can't see that one so good." I knew that she was referring to the poor picture quality due to the frame's low resolution and pixelation.

In a nutshell, if you're closer than 3 feet to the frame, the photos look dark and lose alot of the detail. This was a major disappointment. The fact that it has to be plugged in all the time was also a detractor, but not a deal breaker for me. I had to read the instructions the first time to access the frame's menu options but that was no biggie.

Overall - It's just an ok product. It will give you the functionality and flexibility expected from a digital frame, but the picture quality leaves alot to be desired. I'm shopping for a replacement at this very moment - I think my mom deserves better than just "ok". I'll probably go with the Philips or Kodak easy share as their reviews are pretty good.

It is the standard 480x234 display of many 7" frames (there are more expendsive 640x480 frames, and a larger 10" 860x680 westinghouse if you want to pay for it), the multi-media card reader, mp3/mpeg playback capability as well. One nice feature is the mosaic picture. It's neat 3 pictures side by side on screen is cool, but I'll admit that some of the pictures are hard to see clearly, especially in mosaic, because of resolution. But, mosaic still a neat feature not on many of the other entry level 7" frames. Also, 128MB build in makes it a good self contained unit as well, even without a memory card of some type. check it out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good value, July 16, 2007
This review is from: Westinghouse 7-Inch Wide LCD Digital Photo Frame (Electronics)
I was surprised at the high price of these digital frames. I bought this one, which was the cheapest, at Best Buy.
Cons: 1) 128MB internal memory is really not that much for pictures. 2) Not compatible with all brands of memory devices. It does support 5+ different 'types' of memory devices but it is not compatible with all brands. These incompatible brands are not identified on the packaging and they're not listed in the manual, I had to call to find out which I should buy after I bought an incompatible one. I know the Sony brand USB flash drives work fine.
Pros: 1) It's the cheapest one. 2) It really is simple to use if you've got the pictures already stored on a memory device. You plug in the memory device, turn it on and it automatically starts a slide show. 3) It also has a number of different options to view the pictures like speed & order/shuffling of slideshow, multiple pics in the frame at once, etc.
The picture quality is neither a pro or con, it's good for the money.
I recommend it for people who don't want to break the bank.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second-Best Buy, September 24, 2007
This review is from: Westinghouse 7-Inch Wide LCD Digital Photo Frame (Electronics)
Excellent picture clarity, simple menu management, easy to set up and a good price (see below). The "collage" slideshow presentation is a little hokie--and presents pictures that are `way too small when it divides the 7-inch screen into three views, but that can be turned off. The package DOES NOT include a USB cable, which must be purchased separately, if you want to dump pictures from your PC direct to the frame. The only feature missing is a "delete all" function. It would be nice to be able to delete ALL the frame,s pictures and reload a new set, rather than having to delete pictures, one at a time.

Now--the reason for the title to my comment--The best price I could find at a retail store was $120 (Best Buy). But Amazon had it for $85.00 !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Westinghouse 7" Wide LCD Digital Photo Frame, July 21, 2007

I bought this for my father and he absolutely loved it. Remember to tap the buttons lightly and not press firmly when navigating. The only time the button is pressed for a couple of seconds is to get into the menu.
Similar items cost twice as much. I would highly recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Westinghouse Frame - Good purchase, October 4, 2007

This review is from: Westinghouse 7-Inch Wide LCD Digital Photo Frame (Electronics)
Westinghouse 7-Inch Wide LCD Digital Photo Frame The Westinghouse frame was an overall good purchase. The only problem was that some of the pictures had to be resized b/c they wouldn't fit on the screen. (Tip - It doesn't matter weather the pic are the same size pixels wise, some get cut off and others don't. My suggestion - upload all of the photos you want and then flip through them to figure out which are getting cut off. Then, open those pics in "Paint" and make them smaller.) Other than that, the pictures were pretty clear and the frame was a good quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice, August 2, 2007
This review is from: Westinghouse 7-Inch Wide LCD Digital Photo Frame (Electronics)
I got this as a gift for my father to display the pictures of his 90th birthday party. He and the family were very impressed. It is easy to use and has good features. I would have preferred something larger but will have to wait until the prices are a little more reasonable for this technology.

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective!!, December 12, 2007
This review is from: Westinghouse 7-Inch Wide LCD Digital Photo Frame (Electronics)
This frame does not load pictures with a USB connection. The cust. svc rep w/Westinghouse told me that they have been receiving many calls and that the product is defective. The customer service reps with Westinghouse are absolutley horrible. With that, I would never buy a Westinghouse Digital product, because after you purchase it, you are on your own if anything goes wrong.

I got this frame as a gift, we plugged it in as the manual says and none of our computers can recognize the USB port. We tried to connect it to our digital camera and nothing!

I am very very dissapointed in this digital frame. I am going to be asking for my gift receipt. I would recommend that you don't just buy for price.

Purchased two frames as a Christmas gifts. Could not load pictures via usb cable. Tried loading off a memory card, but the frame would only display a few pictures available to load from the card. Went out and purchased a flash drive, loaded it, attempted to load pictures from flash drive to frame. Frame did not display anything from the flash drive, as if there was nothing plugged into it.
