4.0 out of 5 stars Not too bad
I was a bit hesitant on this model since it got so so reviews from CNET and other places. Most of the negative reviews were based on the image quality. I got it for $79.99 on Black Friday. After plugging it in, it's not too bad. Sure the quality isn't stellar sharp, but for 1/2 the price of the Philips or Kodak, it's pretty good. I will agree with a previous review, the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Well, at least it was cheap
I managed to pick up this frame in a Black Friday sale. I've been wanting one for a while - I used to have a Kodak storybox frame, but it was stolen off of my desk at work a few years ago. The quality of the picture on this frame isn't even close to what I had on my Kodak. The pixels are obvious, and the only control that I can find to adjust the picture is the brightness...

I managed to pick up this frame in a Black Friday sale. I've been wanting one for a while - I used to have a Kodak storybox frame, but it was stolen off of my desk at work a few years ago. The quality of the picture on this frame isn't even close to what I had on my Kodak. The pixels are obvious, and the only control that I can find to adjust the picture is the brightness wheel. If you leave it in mosaic view, the quality is even worse. If you take it out of mosaic view, then the widescreen feature becomes a pain - it frequently chops off part of peoples' heads in the pictures, so I'm debating playing around with the pictures that I load on to it to avoid that. Overall, I wouldn't buy this again, but it wasn't very expensive and if someone steals this one, I won't be heartbroken.

1.0 out of 5 stars picture quality is a deal-breaker, December 22, 2006
This review is from: Westinghouse DPF-0701 7.0" Widescreen Digital Photo Frame with Mosaic View (Electronics)
We got two of these meant as gifts for my parents and in-laws, and returned them both. The picture quality was so poor I would have been embarrassed to give these to my family members. You can clearly see the pixelation, even on the sample pictures it comes with. The mosaic feature is unique, but cannot make up for the terrible resolution.

The 8" frames have far superior picture quality, these 7" frames never should have been released in comparison.

I will agree with a previous review, the Mosaic view isn't all that great. The full view looks better. The viewing angles are pretty wide. For $149, I would spend a few more bucks for a higher resolution model, but if you can find it under $100, it's definitely worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars one way or another, March 22, 2007
This review is from: Westinghouse DPF-0701 7.0" Widescreen Digital Photo Frame with Mosaic View (Electronics)
The mosaic isn't worth the hype... So once you eliminate that as an option. You must load pictures that are either all horizonal or verticle because verticle pictures appear with large gaps on either side... So you'll have to order to frames to display both...

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY, December 30, 2007

I was given this as a gift for Mother's Day, and by Chrsitmas the display was on the fritz. Of course, it is now a month past warranty coverage.....I agree with the other reviews that the mosaic view doesn't do much to enhance the product- pictures were just too small. I don't think I'll replace this one....just not worth the money. After really wanting one of these, I have to say I am very disappointed - I can play slideshows on my computer with much bigger pictures and better quality . I was considering buying one for my mom, but not now. WESTINGHOUSE DPF-0701 7.0" Widescreen Digital Photo Frame with Mosaic View

I did my shoping around when picking out a digital photo frame, and ran across the westinghouse at a couple of different stores. my family has puchaces 2 westinghouse flat screen computer monitors over the course of the past couple of years, not a lick of trouble. So naturally, I felt comfortable with buying this frame. It is the standard 480x234 display of many 7" frames (there are more expendsive 640x480 frames, and a larger 10" 860x680 westinghouse if you want to pay for it), the multi-media card reader, mp3/mpeg playback capability as well. One nice feature is the mosaic picture. It's neat 3 pictures side by side on screen is cool, but I'll admit that some of the pictures are hard to see clearly, especially in mosaic, because of resolution. But, mosaic still a neat feature not on many of the other entry level 7" frames. Also, 128MB build in makes it a good self contained unit as well, even without a memory card of some type. check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC TOY/GIFT/DISPLAY, November 28, 2006
This review is from: Westinghouse DPF-0701 7.0" Widescreen Digital Photo Frame with Mosaic View (Electronics)
I got this from BestBuy on the black friday. I came home and inserted my SD card right off the camera. I was amazed with the simplicity and the picture provided by westinghouse. This futuristic item is great for any house hold. It is so nice seeing your pictures (it can even be thousands depending on your memory card) and videos play right by your side on your coffee table. It looks even better when the lights are dimmed. I know it may get little pricey for a frame but I'll tell you, it is worth it. I didn't want to buy this item but my wife made me and now I'm so happy and content that I bought this item.

1.0 out of 5 stars Appalling Customer Service, February 13, 2007

Never buy a product from Westinghouse Digital. I purchased a laptop from them and it arrived with major hardware problems. Upon discovering the problem with my computer, I attempted to obtain an RMA number and my call was NEVER returned. Without this number you cannot get anything serviced. After I called 3 times over the period of two weeks, someone finally told me the number and the address. They received my package on January 9, and I have not heard a single thing since then (February 13). Furthermore, everytime I have called to inquire, I have been on hold for an unacceptably long period, and when my call was finally answered, the response was that they knew nothing and would get back to me, which never happened. I have been without my computer for a month and a half now, with no end in sight. It is a gamble to purchase any product from this company, since any factory defect may lead you to lose complete track of your property and spend countless hours on hold and listening to excuses.
