Great LCD TV Despite The Low Price,
By OC Resident (Irvine, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Westinghouse Digital Electronics LTV-32w3 HD 32 in. HDTV LCD TV (Electronics)
First I thought I would get a so-so LCD TV because the price is so low. I thought, well, there has to be something wrong with it because the price is much less than the Sony and Samsung LCD TV. I was however pleasantly surprised that it has great image quality and also excellent on-screen menu.
I highly recommend this Westinghouse LCD TV. You will save enough money to buy the Xbox 360 in comparison buying the brand names.

Good TV....if it doesn't break.,

I purchased this television in May, 2006, and it's performance was great while it lasted. After about 3 monhts, the tv began to malfunction. The colors would fade in and out, and then the picture would be rendered in about 4 colors, making everything on the screen a psychedelic blur. Eventually the screen would go out altogether, leaving me with a wonderful 32 inch flat-screen "radio". Westinghouse says they will take it back in for servicing, but it will cost me a fortune to ship it to them since I'm at an overseas military base. The bottom line is that this is a good tv, but it should have had a life span greater than three months.

Warning - no repair parts available,
This review is from: Westinghouse Digital Electronics LTV-32w3 HD 32 in. HDTV LCD TV (Electronics)
I purchased a Westinghouse TV and one day it would not power on. I took it to a trusted repair shop who would not look at it because they said you can't get parts for ANY Westinghouse TVs. They did verify the power supply worked. Called Westinghouse to get it repaired. They won't repair it because they decided it has been out of warranty for 50 wks, though I haven't had the TV for 2 years. I offered to pay for the repair, but they won't let me ship it because it might get damaged. If it were under warranty, it could be shipped, go figure. I'm taking the repair shops advice and not purchasing another Westinghouse.

Problem with autoprogramming the channels,
This review is from: Westinghouse Digital Electronics LTV-32w3 HD 32 in. HDTV LCD TV (Electronics)
I can't say anything bad about the picture quality but autoprogramming the channels was a nightmare. Apparently I must have gotten a bad model because I haven't read anything about anyone else having a problem with the autoprogramming. When I started the autoprogramming to scan for all the channels it ran just fine at first. It loaded the channel numbers and then it started going through and loading the digital channels. The progress bar got to 84% and then froze. Ten hours later it was still frozen. I couldn't exit out of the autoprogramming mode so I simply had to turn the tv off. When I turned the tv back on I could pick up 10 stations, all analog. I ran the autoprogramming again and it got stuck at 84% completion again. This time I turned it off immediately and when I turned it back on I could pick about 40 stations. That still wasn't enough and besides, the digital stations were still missing. I ran it a third time and was only able to pick up 20 stations. It didn't matter how long I left the tv on when it got stuck at the 84% mark. The number of stations the tv could pick up was totally random. I thought maybe it was my cable service but that tested out okay. Finally I thought I wonder what would happen if I turned the tv off before it got to the 84% completion mark? I started the autoprogramming, once again, and as soon as it got to 83% I turned off the tv. I turned the tv back on and lo and behold all the stations were there, even the digital ones. I'm thinking there's a software error in the chip that runs the autoprogramming. When the autoprogramming reaches the 84% mark it apparently gets stuck in an endless loop and is unable to complete the autoprogramming automatically.

I did not have a ton of money to drop on a television, but desperately wanted to play my PS3 in high def, and wanted a larger screen to play my Wii on. If the price tag on this TV scares you, fear not. This is the best bang for the buck television money can buy. I have had no problems with anything on this television, and the picture quality is great. I receive compliments on my television on a regular basis. If you are feeling apprehensive, just give in and buy this, you wont regret it.

I bought one of these in March 2007, and it worked great for a few months. Then it started having problems. At random times and for no apparent reason, the image would turn into a blur of vertical lines. This would last for a few minutes, then go back to normal. Other times, the screen would capture a still image and keep displaying a shadow of it on top of what was playing. Sooo, I called Westinghouse, got an RMA, and paid to ship it back for warranty. This was in September.
Three weeks later, my replacement TV arrived at my door. This one was "factory refurbished" and it worked great for about 3 days. At least this one had a totally different problem, though. This one would take areas that were supposed to be black and turn them different shades of red. My DVD player's screen saver (colored logo bouncing around a black screen) flickered between black and burgundy, with the logo leaving a different colored trail where it had been. Sooo, I called Westinghouse, got ANOTHER RMA, and shipped it back. This time they paid for shipping. How nice. Five weeks later, which was a week ago today, my second replacement TV arrived, again "factory refurbished." It worked great until Saturday night, when I wanted to watch a movie with my wife. It had the same problem as the first one, randomly turning my screen into a vertical blur. I just got off the phone with Westinghouse again. I am expecting a call-back from a supervisor about getting another RMA, except this time, I don't want another TV. I want my money back!

Worst TV ever!,

I bought a Westinghouse LCD TV from Best Buy and it did not work from the first day. The picture froze after 30 minutes. It would not turn on without being unplugged and plugged back in. The picture quality was awsome while it was on though. I bought a Best Buy 4 year service plan and they could not find parts for this TV to service it. I returned it for a refund and Best Buy did not refund the full amount of purchase, even within 30 days! Do not buy this TV!

Never buy a product from Westinghouse Digital. I purchased a laptop from them and it arrived with major hardware problems. Upon discovering the problem with my computer, I attempted to obtain an RMA number and my call was NEVER returned. Without this number you cannot get anything serviced. After I called 3 times over the period of two weeks, someone finally told me the number and the address. They received my package on January 9, and I have not heard a single thing since then (February 13). Furthermore, everytime I have called to inquire, I have been on hold for an unacceptably long period, and when my call was finally answered, the response was that they knew nothing and would get back to me, which never happened. I have been without my computer for a month and a half now, with no end in sight. It is a gamble to purchase any product from this company, since any factory defect may lead you to lose complete track of your property and spend countless hours on hold and listening to excuses.
