4.0 out of 5 stars It was what I was looking for
This was what I was looking for, but be mindful of what it is. This 1 Watt LED bulb has the equivalent brigtness of a 7 Watt bulb (and the 3 Watt counterpart is equivalent to a 20 Watt bulb). In my case, I was looking to turn a table lamp into a night light -- hence this brightness is about right (or perhaps a little too bright).

3.0 out of 5 stars Cool Bulb! Very low amount of light but extremely energy efficient!
This light is advertised as a 1 watt LED bulb. I bought two of these a while back ($12.50 each) to help reduce our electric usage. I run most of our house on solar so every watt helps.

I already have a ton of energy efficient bulbs, all of which were Compact Fluorescents. The closest bulb I can compare to this 1watt LED is my 7watt CF bulb. What surprised...

What surprised me is that it was clear that 7 of these LED bulbs wouldn't output as much light as my single 7watt CF bulb. This surprised me considering LED's are supposed to be more energy efficient.

So what I did next is measured 2 of these bulbs over two days using my kill-o-watt meter. My killowatt meter shows 0watts being consumed even when measuring both of the bulbs combined, so clearly they are using less than .5 watts each. After measuring total watt hours consumed over two days and running the numbers, I found they were each consuming around 0.3 watts of electricity. This means I can run almost 25 of these and still use the same electricity as my single 7watt CF bulb. 25 of these would definitely have more light than the single 7watt CF bulb, but that would also be very costly... $300! These are best for specific places, anywhere a dim light is useful.

I like the bulb because it's so tiny and consumes almost an unmeasurable amount of electricity. It also doesn't require mercury like CF bulbs do. The light output is low, but about what I expected since I read the other reviews. I'll be buying the "3 watt" version sometime in the future and will post how many watts the 3watt version really consumes and how it compares to this "1 watt" bulb.

NOTE: The reason why I gave this only a 3 is because this isn't really a 1 watt LED bulb, it's a 0.3 watt LED bulb advertised as a 1 watt bulb. It's also somewhat on the blue side. If the price drops a lot, I might get more of these.

I have been looking for a low-wattage LED bulb for a night light that will be left on for most of its life. This product turns a hallway between bedrooms that would be pitch dark into an easily navigable area, and with little energy use and heat production.

This bulb will not light up a room like a standard bulb! Folks who gave it a bad review because it's too dim must not understand that this is a ONE Watt bulb with equivalent light output as a 7 Watt incandescent, which is pretty much a night light. This is made clear in the description.

I like this light bulb for early morning and night time work on my computer, when there is not enough natural light to make my keyboard/desk visible. Yes, the light has a hint of blue, but it is easy on the waking/tired eye, and that is what I like about it. You are not going to light up a room with this little bulb, but for soft, localized light, it's great.

LED technology still needs work. You'd need at least 5 of these to light up a room. I could buy track lighting with 5 sockets, but I'm not sure it's worth the money...and that's a lot of work.

At least the light is white unlike the 3 watt westinghouse, which is blue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect replacement for 7-watt bulb of similar shape for stair lights, March 3, 2010

This bulb was a perfect replacement for a 7-watt incandescent bulb of similar shape and size. I have 5 recessed stair lights that use a medium-size base like this one and I was using 7-watt traditional bulbs in them. Those were burning out after a couple of months at $2.49 a pop. I expect these new LED bulbs to last much much longer.

Please, consider that the light you get for 1 watt is NOT going to be very much, and this is really more of a night light than anything. We like the dim light on the stairs and these are PERFECT for that application. HIGHLY recommended in that case!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Dim but Functional, November 12, 2009

This review is from: Westinghouse Lighting 03490 Nanolux 1-Watt S11 LED Bulb, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
It provides a dim but functional night light glow inside the refrigerator (if you have good vision). The low energy consumption and durability certainly makes this bulb useful, but the opaque white bulb color may be reducing the strength of the glow. A transparent LED bulb should be designed. Don't expect to use a dozen of these to even equal the strength of one regular light bulb.

The item specs are good on paper, unfortunately it just is not a good product overall. It is weaker in lumen production compared to even a 7 watt incandescent. the fact that it produced a ice blue hue doesn't help matters. Not recommended as anything other than accent lighting (keep in mind that the light is very very cool in temperature). It would have been great if the company selling this stated the lumen production and light temperature of the bulb in the listing.

I will be terse since most people have covered this. I REALLY want to find a product that is close to CFLs, let alone incandescent, at a reasonable price. What this purchase proved to me is that the technology just isn't there yet. Soon, I am sure. However, this product is very underpowered and produces a blue hue. I do use the light in the hallway between the bedrooms in case people get up at nite!
