4.0 out of 5 stars Enough light at a low wattage.
There were two bulbs that cost around $24 when I purchased in Fall 2007. These bulbs were the only solution I could find for lighting with a low wattage. Hopefully they will last the projected 6000 hours and I'll save more that $24 on energy costs over that period.

1.0 out of 5 stars don't waste your money
I replaced my entire house with these compact Westinghouse Fluorescent bulbs that were suppose to last for seven years. What a joke, they don't last seven months. Show no signs of defect, just stop burning. Then you have to figure out how to dispose of them. Don't bother trying to contact Westinghouse, that too is a waste of energy. There should be a class action...

There should be a class action against Westinghouse. My cost was over $400.00 to replace all the bulbs in my house.

5.0 out of 5 stars It does not matter how much money it saves you..., May 1, 2008

It does not matter how much it saves for you; it matters how many people are going to use fluorescent light bulbs in order to lower the total energy consumption.
Think of 1e7 households using a table lamp for 4hrs a day with either a incandescent bulb (40W) or a 14W fluorescent light bulb. The diffeence is a energy saving of 65kWh per day!

Bottom line: go for it even if the inital cost is a bit more expensive.
