Read this, have realistic expectations and you'll be fine,
By If you want a powerful, very strong light, then go with an electric bulb. However, there are some areas where this isn't practical and it would be costly to put in the electrical wiring. Also, electric bulbs can get very hot. That is when these battery-operated bulbs can be a MAJOR help. They don't get extremely hot, go up in minutes and (my favorite part) can be removed and carried around the house if the lights go out. Having said that, you might need two of these in a closet if you want maximum lighting. We put on on the closet ceiling and under a shelf, giving us two layers of lighting. That worked fine. If you have a walk-in closet, one of these bulbs isn't going to handle that amount of space and light it adequately. However, it can illuminate dark areas. Also works well in small coat closets, etc. TO SUM UP: Keep your expectations realistic and you'll be fine. You'll save money on the cost of an electrician but you won't get the same illumination as an electric bulb. Still, if you can't even tell what color your clothes are because the closet is so dark, this should solve that problem.

BRIGHT idea!,
By Daddy Longlegs (Fairview, Tx) - See all my reviews Now if they could just make one that looks a little fancier. Still I like it because it's actually bright.

By Don't waste a dollar on this junk. If I could have found the receipts I would have gotten my money back.

Burns through bulbs and batteries!,

The concept and form factor of this item is great. The electronics are the only reason it does not get a top rating. It WILL burn through light bulbs and batteries VERY fast. If you used this very briefly every day in a closet, it will more than likely need a bulb replacement within a couple weeks. After getting fed up with replacing bulbs and batteries (I have 3 of these), I decided to take things into my own hands. I went to a local hardware store and purchased a 9 LED high output flashlight rated for 16 hours of continuous use on 3 AA batteries. It was about $6. After about 30 min of hacking I had a completely new "bulb" running on 3 AA batteries instead of 4 with greatly increased battery life, almost endless bulb life, and at least twice the brightness (if not more). I'm now very happy with my purchase. I may actually create a tutorial on how to do this for others that may be interested. I still think this is a great concept. I just wish they would come out with a Rev 2 and get the electronics right.

Well, it is a cool product, and good idea to use. But the bulb was broken in first 3 days. We put the second one on. Dont know how long this second one will last. We used it only few minutes in the morning, when we need to get some cloth out of closet. Also, it is not on line product only. I found Bed Bath Beyond has it and CVS has it. They sell 9.99. Without extra bulb. But still, misleading to say online only.

This StickUp Bulb is great ... For what it is. It gives you good light in closets & other places that have no power, and it does it a lot better than those bug-eyed touch lamps. The base/bulb is removable from the mount, so it doubles as a decent emergency light, and it costs less than $10. Sure, it sucks the batteries if you leave it on for long periods, but hey ... What did you expect?

I bought the ac adaptor for this. As the other comment said, the batteries burn quick. Well, with the ac adaptor, the bulb has a very short life. If left on for a while, the buld dies and it is very hard to find a replacement buld for this thing.

I love this bulb. It is working out great for my closet that has no electricity in it. Just remember to turn it off as soon as you are finished because it will eat up batteries. You may want to have an extra replacement bulb handy, when mine burned out it took 2 months to get one.

OK, now I have a light in my closet and it shines pretty bright, at least when the battery is fully charged. You'll be glad to use rechargeables because even with very light use the bulb empties the battery very quickly. I use eneloop rechargeable batteries which hold their charge much better than others. Overall, just a so so solution for closet lights.
