The spin speed is much less than that achieved with our previous hand crank salad spinner. It does not spin fast enough to remove excess water from lettuce. After a short time, the SaladXPress became appreciably slower. Under the terms of the warranty, it was replaced with what appears to be a new unit. The new one isn't any better than the first. We've given up on the SaladXPress and purchased an OXO SoftWorks hand powered salad spinner.

I recently purchased the salad spinner and I was very happy when I realized just how much this machine can do. Besides all of the vegetables you would think of slicing or grating for various types of salads it will also slice/grate potatoes for frying and various types of meat. I am very happy with this purchase as it makes food preparation much faster and easier. It is also easy to clean.

I received this for a Christmas present. I just tried it out and am disappointed. I loved the spinner part, but the slicing and grating part was just too much. It totally mushed my cucumber. The motor is so strong that my arm hurts from holding it down so it wouldn't jump all over the counter. It actually unplugged itself one time cause it was jumping all around. While it's a great idea, it's a bit much for using it for what it's intemded.
