First, it is necessary to correct some errors in Amazon's listing. The book is not subtitled "The British Spy Plane of World War II" or anything else for that matter. The page count is 208, not 146. And finally the book appeared in 2006, not 2003.

If the book did appear late the wait was well worthwhile. The book is the third in Mushroom's Orange Series (No. 8103). The book is a 6-1/2" x 9", 208 page, square bound card cover.

Like all Orange Series the book is divided into three sections. The first section is largely text supplemented with black and white photos, numerous line drawings, and tables. It is a concise but comprehensive description of the background, design, development, service, and features of the aircraft. Included are numerous first hand accounts of those that flew and serviced the plane. Full coverage is given not only of British but foreign operators as well. This section is about half the book.

Next, we have a section largely in color but supplemented with contemporary service manuals showing the aircraft in detail. There are superb color photos showing close ups of preserved examples which are well captioned.

Finally, the book closes out with 24 pages of color profiles that depict the Lysander in the markings of every user. The modeller is well served by both these last two sections but the general enthusiast will not feel slighted at all.

Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in this aircraft. The book has long been out of print and there are some astronomical asking prices so some patience is necessary to obtain a copy at a reasonable price.
