4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and worthwhile
This toy is great even for younger kids. I wouldn't recommend it for very young kids, but show a child how it works. Not only will they think the balls swinging from side to side are neat, but later on they will be able to realize what was happening when they take a physics class. This toy can be somewhat addictive, spending quite literally hours watching the balls swing...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality
Everything about this is poorly made. I should have spent a few more dollars finding a better version. I have seen different versions of these that would keep going for a long time. Because the strings and balls are poorly aligned, this tends to stop after a few seconds.

I have played with different versions of this and found this one to be made pretty cheap. It works but if I had known that it would of looked so cheap in person I would have spent a few more bucks.

I purchased this as a replacement for a teacher who had one that got all tangled up by a special education student. When I opened the box at school one of the balls was not attached, I tried to super glue it which didn't work and I didn't have time to send it back before the end of school so i am hoping hot glue will work. I was disappointed that the item was broken.

Base and wire hangers are actually pretty nice but it ends there. Balls are hung by fishing line which doesnt even looked to be tied so it will more thank likely fail in the future. Mine arrived broken. It was a gift. If your looking for a cheap version of the Newton's Cradle that might require the McGyver in you to make it work then this is for you. If that didnt make any sense then dont buy this.

The product we got does not look like the one in the picture. Our base was black and the metal portion had two horizontal rods that were supposed to fit in the base. Unfortunately, one of them was broken. The line is very week - feels like 1-lb fishing line and stretches very easily. On arrival, one of the strings was already snapped. The base was heavy, but the rest of the product was cheaply made.

Sadly, this item arrived to my 9 yr old grandson with the cords wrapped around each other and unable to be unwound. After great effort by a very responsible father, the strings started to break rendering the whole thing unusable and worthless - to the great disappointment of the child.

A very sad experience for all.

Not only will they think the balls swinging from side to side are neat, but later on they will be able to realize what was happening when they take a physics class. This toy can be somewhat addictive, spending quite literally hours watching the balls swing even though you know the outcome. You could very easily give this as a gift for someone you love or keep it at work for people that stop by. What I love most about the Newton's Cradle is my dad had one when I was a little boy, and it is one of the few things I remember him playing with. It is something you can easily get another person involved with minimal complications. So enjoy, and share ur Newton's Cradle with anyone!

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of garbage, December 23, 2010
This review is from: Newton's Cradle 5.5" (Toy)
While trying to fit the poles in the holes, the "fishing line" holding the balls on came off on one of the balls. Worse than that, the "poles" do not match up with the holes. I threw it away - guess you get what you pay for, in this case it was like throwing ten bucks in the garbage.

Please do yourself a favor and spend a little bit more and buy a good piece which will last slightly longer than few hours when your 5 year old is being introduced to fun and physics.
