We are from a European background and our grandparents left us with many recipes that require food grinding. Rather than using the manually operated grinder they left us, we searched to find one that would make life easier. The Weston works great! We use it for grinding meats for patties and making sausages, preparing potatoes for various recipes, slicing vegetables, shredding. The quality and performance of this product exceeds our expectations and the service we experienced with Amazon is 100% satisfactory.

I have never used an electric meat grinder before, just the hand cranked models, but besides taking up a place on the countertop is just wonderful. Plenty of power to go through even frozen meat. I am actually learning to make sausage since it is so easy to use. Only thing that has happened that I did not expect is that the chrome parts were discolored when I washed them in the dishwasher to sterilize.

I'm also personally disappointed with this product. It also appeared to me, not to be new when I opened it, and the gears got damaged after 2 uses, they are made out of plastic. Now I have a useless product sitting in the storage. :(

Grinds meat, and veggies really well. If if not fully defrosted. However, the pieces rust really easily.

I'm personally disappointed with this product. It appeared to not be new when I opened it, and it didn't do what I needed it to do. I'm accustomed to manual grinders, and for my purposes, prefer them.
Let me be clear - this may be a fine product for some users, and I only tried it for grinding.

Not so much for potatoes,

Hi: I tried to shred (grate) potatoes for a ethnic dish (Kugelis) and, using the fine shredder blade it was a disaster and just as tiresome as hand grating. Slivers of potato kept getting between the blade and the housing; I had to muscle the potatoes against the shredder blade with the plunger thingy, and the shred was so fine that there was more liquid than potato. Because of all the air that was incorporated during the shred, the potato dish was discolored before it even hit the oven. I wound up using my Oster blender for this task when I made the dish next and the dish was perfect! Next, I'll try the meat grinder option to make fresh polish sausage -- and keep my fingers crossed.

I bought the Weston 82-0103 and it worked great for the Tomato Strainer attachment that was bought seperately. The juice does leak back into the machine but it can be cleaned up. The shreader grater attachment is total junk. My 5 year old could have designed a better device and I actually threw it away. I bought a food processor for that type of work. I hope it grinds my Deer in the fall.
