I purchased this mill as a cheap mill for homebrewing. The pictured item was a mill with adjustable plates and a large hopper. I received a small mill, with no plates, tiny hopper, meant for grinding handfuls of flax seeds. \I contacted the seller after delivery, but never heard back. I ended up ordering a new mill elsewhere.

This product is made with the poorest quality I have ever seen. The auger wasn't completly straight, so I got a very inconsistant crush with everything. Then on the third use, the auger shaft snapped in half. I would not recommend this product.

What i got was not what was pictured either at the Amazon site or the seller's site. I tried it--wouldn't attach to my counter (opening too small) and wouldn't grind a fine flour.

I bought this for the sole purpose of making bread flour. I got it, set it up, put some wheat into it, tightened basically as far as it would go, and the berries came out almost exactly as they went in. Plus, there were little iron filings from the burrs mixed in. Great.
Apparently it works great for beans, corn, nuts, chicken feed, etc., and maybe only the first few runs have iron filings, but if you're looking for a mill that actually produces flour from grain, this is NOT it.
It's not that it's flimsy. It's a big, hulking, cast-iron dude, but it won't grind nearly as fine as you need for bread flour. Yes, you can get it for 28 bucks or so, but if you actually want something that works, step up to the 60 dollar level. I recommend the Back To Basics model 555.

I recently bought the Weston grain mill to crack malted barley and other grains for home brewing. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this mill worked. It did not take long to adjust the mill's plates to get just the right grind for home brewing, then it made swift work of the crystal malt and chocolate malt I ran through it. Fantastic! The Weston grain mill attached easily and securely where I wanted it to go. Its handle turned smoothly and was a breeze to crank. It has a large hopper, which is very nice.

I used to have a Corona mill. This Weston mill worked better than my Corona (and it was a good mill, too). I have been home brewing for quite a few years and have done a lot of all-grain mashing. I definitely recommend the Weston grain mill to home brewers. I am very happy with it.

This unit is very poorly made. It will grind grain to make mash but not to make flour. If all you are looking for is to grind grain to feed the chickens then this is the mill for you. If you want to make flour then do not buy this mill.

Another homebrewer here. The mill is impossible to set right with the shield attachment. The bearing that moves the auger is not smooth whatsoever. The only grinding that happened was grinding off the metal coating. I never even put grain in it. Very heavily industrial manufacturing leaves this product very oily and dirty, clean thoroughly.

I got this mill today, and with utter excitement, set to grind whatever I could in sight. I hadn't gotten any raw grain yet, so I used rice to test the grinding power. It was Horrible!! I set it as high as I could, and some of the rice it only cut in half. I tried tampering with it, but I couldn't get smaller than grits sized pieces, or larger.

I tried adjusting in to get a finer grind, tightening the nut. The bolts on the side wouldn't even stay on and one came undone while I was grinding! The blade wouldn't grind finer, and it got to the point that the 'burrs' wouldn't even move!! I opened it up to see what happened, and the metal ring holding it in place wires had bent, so it didn't even secure the burr to the auger!

This item looks really legit, but don't be fooled, it grinds worth crap. In my excitement to get a grinder, I forgot to read the reviews. Bad idea! Amazon should NOT allow this item to apply for their free shipping. They shouldn't even sell it!

To top everything off, I looked at the burrs, and the blades had already ground down a significant amount in less that 3 hours. 3 hours! I had only ground two things! It would only grind coffee to just about the coarseness of a French Press brew, no finer. I don't even think I can salvage this. I'm hoping I can send it back.
