Customer Reviews

These produce a very flat sound signature.

I have really small ear canals so the others were always popping out but these sit entirely inside the ear flush and fit like a glove.

If you are debating getting these, or the Shure SE215's, GET THESE!

I lost my Monster Copper Turbine and had to get a replacement. Loved the Monster earbuds but I decided to redo my tests to include some of the newer earphones or ones which were said to be good but I have not tried.I tested the Westone W40, Shure SE535, Klipsch X11i and X10i, and Monster Copper Turbine before deciding on the UM Pro 30.

I have to say that the one that disappointed me the most was the SE535. At the price point, the clarity and bass were not exciting for me. Sound was very balanced but not excellent in each category. I wasn't moved by the sound that came out from it.

The Monster Copper Turbine was still very good at more than half the price I would have had to pay for the SE535. And the bass from these buds were amazing! Much better than the SE535. I would have been happy to purchase it again. Both the Klipsch X10i and X11i were similar as well. Bass is decent but not as strong as the Monster buds but clarity was up a notch. Very balanced set with a great fit on the standard buds that came with the set.

After I tried the W40, I thought it was great as well. Bass was improved and superior to the SE535, but somehow the music didn't move me that much more and I couldn't justify the price difference from my perspective compared to the Monster or Klipsch buds.

Eventually the one that got me was the UM Pro 30. Bass was strong but not sacrificing sound quality. Each note, beat and ring were crystal clear and the music was so balanced and perfect that I just had to get them on the spot. Fantastic piece of equipment. Now I could justify the price difference.

Only one problem. The UM Pro 30 does not come with a remote and volume control to work with a smartphone. However, they gave me a solution, which is to get the Shure smartphone cable. The plugs fit well and I now have absolutely no problem. I am a happy man!!!

After much research I decided to go with the UM pro 30's for their 3 armature crossover set up. These little bad boys are just awesome. Highs are crisp and have a presence but not overwhelming, Mids warm and filling, and the Lows just perfect not over powering the rest of the soundstage. Just got these and within the last hour of continuous play I have no regrets whatsoever. Comfortable and the perfect amount of sound isolation. Will post more after a few more weeks of use.

I can't say that I loved these straight out of the box but after listening for a good number of hours, I can say I love them now. For reference, I have a pair of 5 y.o. Klipsch buds ($100 range), a nice set of over-the-ear Ultrasone HFI 580 and a set of Bose Quietcomfort 15's for long plane rides. I listen to many different types of music and that gives me an opportunity to really get a feel for how each excels (or does not). I won't go into any long-winded technical analysis or comparison. I will say that it took me awhile to get the fit correct using the foam tips, but after a few tries I was in my office one day and concentrating on some work at the computer and after about an hour I put the buds down and took a look at my phone, only to see that I had completely missed a call with my phone sitting right next to me, which is to say nice sound isolation with the buds (and I am not one to listen at high intensity levels)! My next significant experience was on about 6 hours of plane travel, during which the comfort was much higher than I have experienced with buds in the past. Again, nice sound levels could be maintained and still enjoy a significant reduction in cabin noise. Next, I will just comment that I love the full bodied sound of these buds, without being pushy in any one frequency range. Overall, they do not replace the open feel of the over-the-ear headphones, but fit the niche I need them for very, very nicely. Excellent quality build. I will go back to listening now.....

I use these weekly now on stage and really enjoy them. I've compared them with the $500 pair of W40s and the difference I can tell is the W40s have more mid and low tones which set the instruments apart more. However, for what I'm doing on guitar, and the fact that I can hear everyone very well, I don't plan on upgrading these until someone throws a stack of cash at me (what? it could happen.) The fit, the bag of ear pieces, cable, case, and quality are the same as more expensive ones, it's just the number of drivers/channels that differ.

They feel great in my ears and I'm not having any bad rubbing or hot spots. I'm giving it a 5 rating because although there are better ones out there, these are 100% what they advertise and are great for me.

There are a few good reviews out there written by folks calling themselves audiophiles. (I believe it.) However, I'm not one, so I can't exactly comment on that area. But I can say this: I feel like I'm hearing a lot of songs for the first time, especially songs with a lot of layering in them. Background vocalists suddenly have character in their voice rather than merely being there singing. These are some very enjoyable headphones. The earbuds I've used before this are Sennheiser CX300's and JBL J22's, as well as the full gamut of Apple headphones. (I've used Shure for concerts a number of years ago, but I can't remember them well enough to compare.) The UM Pro 10's are pretty memorable for me though.

Regarding the specifics of the sound: everything sounds very articulate and pronounced. At first they surprised me by how treble-forward they were, especially coming from the J22's. The bass is also noticeably less present. It's not that you can't hear the bass. In fact, you can hear every note of it. It just doesn't thump your ears like the J22's. Distinguished, but not in your face....err...your ear. Some reviewers call that a fun factor, and while I would agree that bass is fun, there are so many things you'll hear throughout the remaining ranges that it makes up for this. Also, the Pro 10's are also noticeably louder at the same volume than anything else I have. Left and right panning seems a lot more pronounced as well, which is an incredible thing.

I have tried quite a few earbuds in a band setting, and the UM Pro 10's work tremendously well by comparison.
