2.0 out of 5 stars Tough Assembly
The trike is small but good. The biggest problem is poor fit on some things. The most striking is the lock that holds together the trike where if folds. The may be due to a too thick coat of paint that kept the joint in the middle from closing. The trike does not have a rear hand or coaster brake. It does not have rear fenders and the rider's leg is able to hit the rear...

I'm an overweight adult looking to get into shape without killing myself in the process. I ordered this bike after doing a significant amount of web searching. Is it ever fun to ride! Now I look forward to coming home from work so I can hop on the bike and cruise around the neighborhood. I'm getting exercise, having fun and my dog comes along, too. Since this bike has no gears, I'm not flying down the road so the dog keeps up with me easily. The only improvement I can wish for is a three-speed. That would make hills a lot more do-able but hey, the idea is to get in shape. The breaks work great and the basket is really roomy. I can ride down to the grocery store in my neighborhood and come home with three sacks of stuff, no prob. So this thing's saving me gas money, getting my heart and knees strong, letting me feel the wind in my face and giving the dog a good walk all in one. A very good investment. My husband had it assembled in no time and it feels sturdy. Looks good, too. Many friends and neighbors have expressed bike envy. I tell them, "Hey, it's still on sale at Amazon.com!"

I, purchased this bike for my developmental delayed child, who needs training wheels to ride a bike and she is now too big for the wheels to fit on her bike. this was hard with summer coming so i decided to get her a 3 wheeled bike and she loves it! i researched different brands and prices online, so i was really pleased with the reasonable price of this particular bike. I will admit i would have perferred a choice in colors and the westport was not my original choice, i wanted a schwinn mainly because i have always purchased those bikes for my children, but i do have to say that i like the fact that the westport stores better and is more compact and since the wheels are only 20 inches verses 26 inches i wont need to special order any wheels or parts if i ever need replacements, i can just run to a department or bike store. my daughter loves the basket because she can but her dolls and her cat in it and ride up and down the block, I also was able to purchase, very cheap, side mirrors that go on the handle bars, sort of like bike streamers, so that she can see if anyone is behind her while riding, she does not ride on the street road but for those that do they could be handy. we also attached a horn so as with any bike yo can personalize it. i would highly recommend this bike for not only adults but for any older child that cant ride a regular bike .

5.0 out of 5 stars Foldable Trike, February 8, 2008

For a 20 in wheel trike this item is very versatile. Easy to put together, Large cargo compartment, Modern caliper breking system all work well. 20 in wheels are an advantage- makes storage and maneuverablity easy. Adjustable seat makes for easy sizing for an adult. Unique fold feature makes it fit well in tight spaces. Excellent value at great price. My wife loves it. By the way it gets a million miles to the gallon.

I have difficulty riding a bike because I can't seem to keep my balance. This seemed like the perfect alternative. I bought this primarily to get some exercise, but with gas prices rocketing towards $5 a gallon, it's had the added bonus of being very practical for shopping as well.

The big basket is just right for toting groceries and library books. And once you get used to riding it, you can go anywhere a bike goes - it's very versatile!

When you receive it, it's "partially assembled" and that means there are some parts that have to be put together, nuts and bolts and wrenches and all that stuff. If you're not handy, you can take it to a bike shop and they'll put it together for you (for a fee, of course!). My husband put it together for me, and had to make a few adjustments after my first ride, but once those were done it worked perfectly! I have no complaints and would recommend this to anyone who (a) doesn't feel comfortable on a bike and (b) wants to save money on gas!

UPDATE 2011: Unfortunately due to an increasingly bad back, I had to give up my trike. I gave it to an elderly gentleman who was thrilled with it and as far as I know is still riding it every day to the grocery store. So even though I can't use it anymore, it's still coming in handy for someone! :-)

Over all, this is a wonderful bike.It was easy to assemble. Most of it is done for you.The box it comes in is very large. An average height person should have no problem.I'm 5ft 6in an still have room to adjust the seat and handle bars. The bike is a nice size to ride and the fact that you can fold it is awesome!I would have given it 5 stars except one of the inner tubes popped during inflation.Upon examination of it, there was a white line close to the seam where I saw a 1/4 inch hole. The only other problem is steering.MAKE SURE TIRE PRESSURE IS CORRECT IN BOTH REAR TIRES! IT WILL AFFECT STEERING!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!, October 16, 2008
This review is from: Westport Adult Folding Tricycle (Sports)
I cannot, what so ever, put anything together. I had a friend come over that likes to tinker, and it took us a few hours to put it together. The instructions are a little weird but I'm terrible at this sort of thing! Also, I LOVE TO RIDE IT. It is amazing, and the basket is so great! It doesn't go very fast because it doesn't have gears, but that just means you work a little harder to get going and I'd prefer that. Also, if any of you live in the city or in a tight space THIS PRODUCT IS PERFECT. You can take bike lanes with ease, it has a super sharp turning radius and is light. I am not strong, and I didn't have a problem getting this through pathways, acrossed streets and along trails. It fits on the sidewalk with TONS of room!!! I would recommend this for anyone looking to save gas in an urban area without tons and tons of hills (unless you want awesome glutes! HAHA!). Fits great in my studio too. It folds in half to the side if anyone was wondering, (I know I was!) YOU'LL LOVE IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars My 3 wheeler, September 6, 2008

I love my new bike!! I'm 73 and have MS. I'm not very good at walking, and the last two times I rode my 2 wheeler, I fell off, and on my head! My family wouldn't let me ride anymore, so I had the bright idea of a three wheel bike, and other than getting used to steering a bit differently than a 2 wheeler, I LOVE my new bike. We've been riding 4 miles in the morning and I'm hoping to lose a few ounces. LOL

5.0 out of 5 stars Adult Trikes, May 31, 2008

I ordered our bikes (trikes)on a Tuesday and they were here on Thursday. They were assembled except for handlebars, seats, baskets, brakes and they click together, front to back so we can take them apart to transport or store. The price was excellent and we are enjoying them every day, without me being afraid I am going to tip over and break something.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect solution for special 13-year old special needs daughter, July 22, 2009
By
This review is from: Westport Adult Folding Tricycle (Sports)
My daughter is 13, with a record of learning disabilities, seizures, and small and large motor skill deficiencies. We had pretty much given up on trying to teach her to ride a bike. It seemed to be one of the childhood joys that she would never be able to experience. But this 20" tricycle turned out to be the perfect solution for her, and put as big a smile on my face as it did her's when she started peddling around the neighborhood within minutes of first sitting on it. She was even able to grasp the idea of using the hand-caliper for braking. And though it's just a 20" trike, I can easily see her using this trike well into adulthood.

The only cautionary points I can offer to parents looking at the same product for a child with similar issues; (1) it is possible to spill the bike. My daughter hasn't yet, but both she and I came close (yes, it's sturdy and comfortable enough for my 6'2", 240 lbs frame). If you try to turn at too high of a speed, or try to make too tight of a turn, the inside back wheel will come off the ground, and if you're not careful, over you'll go. (2) The ability to fold the trike in half when not in use is a fantastic help to an over-crowded garage. However, the trike is not supplied with any mechanism to lock it into a folded position. But, I find that a simple heavy-duty bungee cord takes care of this issue just fine.

Assembly was a breeze, and took just about 30 minutes with standard and Phillips screw drivers, a crescent wrench, and an allen wrench (and I'm no bike enthusiast, believe me). And the extra large seat is quite comfortable. I had considered adding an after-market seat, but no need here thank goodness (those seats can get expensive).
