5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome music, October 8, 2002
By
Joe Johnson (Denton, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Westport Art Ensemble (Audio CD)
This has quickly become my favorite CD. It has some very orginal songs and arrangments. I highly recommend this album to anyone. The band appeals to musicians and the average listen. Great CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars New KC Swing, October 8, 2002
This review is from: Westport Art Ensemble (Audio CD)
It is wonderful to hear the modern sound from this KC quintet. Quite a few original compositions and nice all solos around. It is also nice to have guitar instead of a 2nd horn. The CD is a mix of hotter, hard-boppish tracks like "Haenehmehr" and more introspective (but substantive) stuff. Very enjoyable!

5.0 out of 5 stars a good cd, January 15, 2004
This review is from: Westport Art Ensemble (Audio CD)
Ive seen them live; they are very good. The CD is good, track 8 especially. Also, know that Joe Johnson strums his own bass and plays the gut bucket with hairy palms.
