5.0 out of 5 stars Westward! (Wagons West Trilogy Book 1)
I think that this book was thouroughly engrossing. I started on a Thursday night and was done with it by Saturday (which is very good timing for me). The characters are well-written by the author (Dana Fuller Ross), and I loved the detail of the novel. I could actually picture myself in the frontier. I have also read the other two books in this series (Expedition,...

3.0 out of 5 stars After the Facts
I read all of the state series starting with Independance last year. While I got engrossed in them and the Holts it was a facinating read. I feel that This trilogy which goes before the Wagons West series should have been written first or at least for those of us who will follow this type of story, let us know so that we read these first. Please make a note somewhere...

The characters are well-written by the author (Dana Fuller Ross), and I loved the detail of the novel. I could actually picture myself in the frontier. I have also read the other two books in this series (Expedition, Book 2 and Outpost, Book 3). This was the first western frontier type of series that I have read and I do not intend for it to be my last. I will now be on the search for all the other books about the Holts (there are over 20 of them!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept my attention with anticipation on what was coming next., July 22, 1999

The audio tape was very well done and it kept my interest all during the reading. It let my imagination run wild as I could see through the charactors eyes the wonders of the wilderness and realness of the dangers. One comment I have is I wish their could be a list on which audio books to purchase first so I could keep the story line in order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wagons West Series, May 25, 2001
It took a long time with others helping me to find all 23 books. They were great & there was plenty of actual information in them. I had a hard time to put them down. Now I find out that there is a number 24 with how many more. I need to find the rest of the series to find out the rest of the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars The beginning of a great series, September 2, 2007
This review is from: Westward (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first book in a sequence of titles, divided into four series. It begins with a family which has terrible tragedy occur, due to the false accusations of a village young woman about one of the Holt family's sons. His denials are not believed by many townspeople, and he is forced to flee with his brother, who is a newlywed.
What follows is a remarkable set of stories, beginning with the adventures which follow the accused brother's prior travels with the Lewis and Clark expedition to the Pacific Ocean, the establishment of a settlement in the west, and many adventures of the various main characters. Once this first book is finished, the reader will be very anxious to continue reading as quickly as possible. It is a remarkable exercise in writing. If the reader likes the Sacket series, by L'Amour, and the Mountain Man series and its spinoffs by Johnstone, then this series is a definite must!
