Gooder than some,
Matt Braun does a good job of throwing in a bit of history, language, and metaphor into a somewhat predictable and lackluster plot about a couple of range detective hired to track and return a stolen bull, which really is a summary of the plot. Not much else weaves its way around or through their mission, and everything that happens the reader sees coming as if on the open plains with ten miles of unobstructed view. That said, I did still enjoy some of the metaphors and language he used, even if at times it seemed like it was being overused, you know, just for the sake of using it, as if he had himself a checklist of words and phrases to throw in.
