Johnny worried, though. And he worried a lot more than he let anyone know. He worried about everything. Would the food hold out? Would they make it to Oregon before the snows came? Were there Indians up ahead who were not as friendly as the ones they had encountered earlier in the trip? the canvas covering the wagon had been torn to shreds by wind and weather. He worried and worried, and when he worried about these things, he talked to his best friend in the whole world, (picture of his dog) - and that helped a lot.
I, Ollie Ox, worked very hard for my family because I knew they were depending on me. Every day from sunrise to sunset, Herb and I pulled their wagon. Of course, I worked the hardest of all the animals on the wagon train! Well, I did! I know it's not polite to brag, but the question is: Is it bragging when I am merely speaking the truth?!

I purchased this book for my nieces and nephews because they were planning a family trip to Oregon. They found the book to be a lot of fun as well as very informative. I had looked for children's books on the Oregon Trail and found WESTWARD HO WITH OLLIE OX to be the best for young children. I recommend it highly.Chick
