Happy Boy (and parents) with DRY PANTS!!!!,

This review is from: Wet-Stop3 Bedwetting Alarm System (Green) (Health and Beauty)
First of all, I (mom) am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, so I have some experience giving advice on bed-wetting. Most references that I have show that night time bedwetting is considered "normal" until 6 to 7 years of age and that boys are typically more difficult to train than girls. That being said, I now have my own 4 1/2 year old boy that is extremely distraught in the mornings when his Pull-Up is wet. First, I borrowed one of the Malem alarms that we have to loan at work (the cheaper $89.00 one that does not vibrate) and found that if I allowed my child to sleep with this one, he woke up screaming and terrified due to the high-pitched audible alarm. Needless to say, our entire family of four was then awake until everyone could calm back down. In addition, the safety pin that is on the Mardel alarm tore a hole in the two sets of pajamas that we used with it.
Now for the good news. For less than half the cost of the comparable Malem alarm, The Wet-Stop 3 is AMAZING. Over a one month period, my son of 4 1/2 years has gone from wetting his pants 2-3 times per night, to wearing regular underwear and being dry all night long. In addition, there is a magnet attached to the vibration/audible alarm (there are 3 settings, either vibration or audible only, or vibration and audible together) that folds over the neckline of the pajamas, so no pins and no holes in the clothes. This is how we used the alarm: First: we talked about how it worked and let him feel what the vibration felt like on his collar bone by dipping the computer chip in a cup of water. Once he was convinced that the alarm would not be deafening in the night, he was excited about wearing it. Week 1: The first 4 nights, we allowed our son to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor in our room. The first 2 night of this he woke up soaking wet, with the alarm going off, woke me up, and I helped him changed his Pull-Up and reattached the alarm. The second 2 nights, he woke up slightly less wet and finished urinating in the toilet, then we changed his Pull-Up. An important point, it was difficult enough for me to disconnect the clamp from his Pull-Up and hold the alarm reset button in, much less having a young child do this alone. The last 3 days of the first week, our son slept in his room, but came to wake me when he was wet (albeit, just barely) to reset the alarm and finish urinating in the toilet. Week 2: 3 of 7 nights, the Pull-Up was DRY, the others we finished in the toilet and resent the alarm and went to bed. Week 3: DRY for 7 nights in a row, still wearing the Wet-Stop 3 and a Pull-Up Week 4: So far, we are 2 days into week 4 and our son is wearing regular underpants with the Wet-Stop 3 attached. So far, haven't had to change any sheets!!!!! He wakes up with a smile from ear to ear and that is worth all the money in the world. As with anything new, consistency is the key. Don't get discouraged after one or two days of wet pants. Keep at it and encourage your child with every step. Congratulate him/her for waking up to the alarm, for coming to get help, etc. Remember, this is behavior modification, not punishment, and not magic. I hope this review is helpful, and that your family has as much success as we have experienced. Good Luck!

After two weeks of waking up to the alarm and "finishing" in the bathroom, our 6 year old began sleeping through the night without having to go at all. He has had almost a full month of completely dry nights, has stopped wearing pull-ups to bed, and has even attended a sleepover at a friend's house without having to worry about being "found out." We are thrilled and are now passing the alarm around to friends who have children experiencing the same issue!

Not nearly loud enough of an alarm - we all sleep through it.,

My son did well wrt not wetting the first couple of days I think just because of the excitement of trying this product out. After that though he sleeps right through the alarm.
We weren't even sure it was going off until I checked on him one night & it was vibrating & alarming. The tone is very low and I cannot hear it from the hallway and my son definitely sleeps through it. You really need a loud, piercing alarm to wake up a deep sleeper. I think most bed wetters are deep sleepers so I am sure we are not unique.

you get what you pay for,
This review is from: Wet-Stop3 Bedwetting Alarm System (Green) (Health and Beauty)
This is a great case of you get what you pay for. I purchased this alarm for our 6 year old because it was a good price and didn't seem to be any worse than the more expensive alarms. I was wrong. First, you can't hear this alarm and we even put the baby monitor in her room and ours and it still wouldn't wake us up. Then when it did wake her up she would do the 2 step process to turn it off and the wire broke at the alarm end with the phone jack connector. The tab broke off. So You have to order a whole new replacement cord for around $15 plus shipping. We did that and that one broke too so we gave up on this and bought the more expensive Malem and it was about 3 weeks into that and she was dry consistently. So the alarm method works but spring for the more expensive alarms and leave the Wet Stop ALONE!!

My 5 1/2 year old daughter has been using the alarm for a little over 3 weeks now. She is a VERY deep sleeper so she does not wake up when she needs to to potty and wets the bed EVERY night, and usually more than once a night. I had my doubts if the alarm would work with her. After many, many months of have NO dry nights at all, she has had 9 completely dry nights in the past 12 days and there were several nights in the past 3 weeks where she wet just a little but stopped herself and got up and finished in the potty, which is what she is supposed to do.
In the first 10 days there were nights that seemed unsuccessful because a few times she wouldn't even get up when the alarm went off. She just lay there for about an hour and I just let the alarm keep going off until she finally got up. Other nights she did what she was supposed to do, which was to get up and turn off the alarm and change her PJ's, etc. But during that time, I think the alarm was still training her body to wake up when she had the urge to pee because after about 10 days, she just started having dry nights. It has been really amazing. We are still in the process of it but it is working. I think they are supposed to wear the alarm until they are dry for 30 days so we have a ways to go yet but I am very pleased with it. The alarm comes with a chart and stickers. She loves to be able to put a gold star on her chart so that has helped as well. Please be careful about the cord. It is very long and if the alarm comes undone from their PJ's, the cord can get wrapped around their necks. This happened one night with my daughter so now I am sure to pin the alarm on instead of just using the magnet.

Quit working after 4 weeks -- piece of junk,

The product did not wake up our daughter, even after 3 weeks of use. Wrong frequency, not loud enough... don't know. So we moved it over to our son (yes, we have two who wet the bed -- you should see our laundry pile) and after the second night it quit working. I was able to jerry-rig a paper clip to hold the batteries in place and it worked for one more night. Now, it's simply dead. Unfortunately, neither Amazon nor this seller offers a warranty that the product will even work, let alone actually train your child to stop wetting the bed. Do not buy this piece of junk. Check for a warranty before you buy anything from Amazon or this seller!

This product, in my opinion, is effectively useless. The alarm tone is so soft that my child never heard it. Other times he would be soaking wet and the alarm would not go off, even after I ran the sensor under water.

My 8 year old son was embarrassed about wetting the bed still. He is a very heavy sleeper, and wet every single night. The first night I got up with him, and the first week I would wake up with him but not get up with him. About 10 days into, his first dry night! It has been 4 weeks and he has been dry 6 nights in a row now. He plans of following the directions exactly and wearing it until 14 dry nights in a row. He was scared it would be loud and scare him awake since he did not think anything would wake him up unless it was very loud. It is not loud at all, and after me waking up with him and the alarm a few nights he was able to wake up on his own when he heard it. I am so impressed with this product!!

Doesn't work,

The unit does not work. It goes off when dry (as soon as my son puts it on) and won't turn off. Then, when wet, it does not go off. A real disappointment. Will try to return it.
