Important Information

Indications
The Wet-Stop3 Wearable Alarm is a device used for the treatment of bedwetting in children, teens and adults.

Directions
To use the Wet-Stop3, please insert 2 AAA batteries (New Energizer or Duracell, non-rechargeable) as pictured in the alarm. Then you will fasten the alarm portion with the magnet to the pajama top. Next run the cord under the pajama top. Lastly you will attach the clip to the front of the underwear and give it a little tug. This will assure that it is secure to the front of the underwear. For boys, it is best to position the sensor inside the front pocket of the underwear.

First of all, I (mom) am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, so I have some experience giving advice on bed-wetting. Most references that I have show that night time bedwetting is considered "normal" until 6 to 7 years of age and that boys are typically more difficult to train than girls. That being said, I now have my own 4 1/2 year old boy that is extremely distraught in the mornings when his Pull-Up is wet. First, I borrowed one of the Malem alarms that we have to loan at work (the cheaper $89.00 one that does not vibrate) and found that if I allowed my child to sleep with this one, he woke up screaming and terrified due to the high-pitched audible alarm. Needless to say, our entire family of four was then awake until everyone could calm back down. In addition, the safety pin that is on the Mardel alarm tore a hole in the two sets of pajamas that we used with it.

Now for the good news. For less than half the cost of the comparable Malem alarm, The Wet-Stop 3 is AMAZING. Over a one month period, my son of 4 1/2 years has gone from wetting his pants 2-3 times per night, to wearing regular underwear and being dry all night long. In addition, there is a magnet attached to the vibration/audible alarm (there are 3 settings, either vibration or audible only, or vibration and audible together) that folds over the neckline of the pajamas, so no pins and no holes in the clothes. This is how we used the alarm:

First: we talked about how it worked and let him feel what the vibration felt like on his collar bone by dipping the computer chip in a cup of water. Once he was convinced that the alarm would not be deafening in the night, he was excited about wearing it.

Week 1: The first 4 nights, we allowed our son to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor in our room.

I thought for quite a while before purchasing this alarm. Or any alarm. Wondering how long it would be before I would recoup the cost of the alarm vs. continuing to buy GoodNites. My 5-year old daughter is such a deep sleeper, and wet the bed every single night, so I really had my doubts. But I happened upon the WetStop3 and the price was lower than other brands I had seen. So I decided to roll the dice and buy it. I am SO GLAD that I did! This alarm has all the bells and whistles of any other brand - both vibration and beeping sound, small size, and functioned perfectly. For the first few days to a week my daughter often completely emptied her bladder before it woke her. But soon she was stopping midstream and getting to the bathroom to finish. And very soon after that she was getting up before the alarm even went off. I think the whole process took about 3 weeks. I had prepared myself for it taking SO much longer. And with no accidents at all, she quit wearing the alarm at just over one month from when we started. I was amazed! I'm still amazed at how well it worked - that's why I'm writing this review. This is the first time I've ever been moved to write a review. Needless to say I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ALARM!!!

woo Hoo! I am typing this review a week after "graduation". We are now 5 weeks from the last accident. It is all due to this product.

My son is 10. Trust me, we have tried many things, including the $120 Malem. Malem worked, but my son hated it so much that when about 4 months after his "last" graduation, when he regressed, he refused to put it back on. It tore holes in his PJ's and worst than that it flopped all over while he slept. We tried it in many locations but it just BUGGED him.

This product uses a magnet that does not flop as bad ( the magnet is more centered than the malem safety pin) It is also less embarassing with siblings because it is quieter.... But due to that I DID have to use a baby monitor so I could hear when it went off. (The malem I could hear all the way in my room.) With both I had to get up to help him get up when it went off. This one just added a baby monitor to my tool chest. When the alarm sounded he would stop momentarily and I would go in and wake him up and walk him to the restroom (in his not quite conscious state). We managed to use this alarm without any siblings knowing what was afoot. Good for a 10 year old's dignity around his younger brother who was night time trained years and years ago.

It came with a star chart. Important for tracking, but also this was good because his self confidence was so low. He got a silver star sticker for nights where the alarm sounded and he stopped (always when I remembered to turn on the monitor)Gold stars were for totally dry nights. Because the silver stars existed he got a lot of positive feedback, which helped to keep this reluctant alarmed child wearing the alarm.

We did everything for YEARS to help our son, who is a very deep sleeper. I stopped short of medicating or "wiring" him at night. I wish I had "wired" him sooner. The Wet-Stop 3 helped my son in under 2 weeks right before his 12th birthday. Don't wait for it to go away on it's own. Get this product!
