5.0 out of 5 stars Thank You Alex!, July 1, 2010
This review is from: We've All Been There (Audio CD)
First of all I just wanted to say thank you to Alex Band for never giving up on this record. It was a long time coming and what we got was a powerful, heartfelt, make you feel feelings you haven't felt in a long time kind of album. The Calling has meant alot to me ever since I picked up Camino Palmero when I was eleven. I know alot of people said that Camino Palmero was an album that was just meant for the mainstream and it was not given credibility, but I to this day think differently. There were some truly beautiful songs on it and I still listen to it and I still feel it was a gem that people dismissed to easily.

"Two" was a breakthrough in my opinion. It got me through some tough times and I would sing along and I could truly feel the emotion that Alex sang with. I never skip a song when I listen to "Two," and it is still heavy in my rotation. "Two" never got a chance to shine like it should have, because I truly feel that The Calling would have had staying power if the world had just appreciated those two records. It's kind of like how people are willing to stick with Lifehouse and they have been around for awhile and it would have been the same with The Calling I think.

"We've All Been There" is quite accomplishment for Alex Band. He managed to stay familiar enough that people who love The Calling will still love this album, but it is also different enough that it can stand alone as a true Alex Band album and not just 'that singer from The Calling putting out a solo record.'

Thank you Alex Band for this and I hope you truly are given the recognition you richly deserve for being one of the most unique voices and insightful songwriters in rock music for this generation. Some might call it rock for girls but I call it music at it's finest. It makes you feel and I think that is what is most important.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alex Band is back and we're glad to have him!, July 2, 2010
This review is from: We've All Been There (Audio CD)
After years of dealing with record company bull Alex is delivering an incredibly solid piece of work that will leave rock/pop lovers wanting more. It has solid hard hitters like We've All Been There, catchy pop tunes like Tonight and Forever Yours, slower but powerful songs like What Is Love. It's got plenty for listeners. I wholeheartedly recommend the purchase of this CD; MP3s are great but you can never get the best out of any release until you get a hard copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Artist! Amazing Sound!, July 29, 2010

This review is from: We've All Been There (Audio CD)
I normally don't write reviews or give feedback online, but I feel this CD is worth the little effort and time it takes to tell others that if you don't own this new release, you are truly missing out on "music to your ears" in the purest, truest sense of the word. I am a fan of rock, alternative rock, and some mainstream artists...but I can honestly say that nothing I've ever heard compares to Alex Band's vocal range and the way he marries that instrument to his superbly written lyrics and music. In an age of the airwaves being infiltrated by pop-can music, hip-hop, and rap, it is refreshing to hear an artist who has gifted us with what "music" really should be. This is a CD you can pop in and play from beginning to end without skipping to get to the "good" songs. Each and every song is excellent, and it's actually difficult to pick a favorite, as each song provides something unique and enjoyable. The more you listen, the more addicted you will become!

As an aside, I also discovered that Alex Band's official website offers a 5-song EP and a Live in Brazil audio DVD that is not available in stores - both also definitely worth the purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Album Since Move Along!!, July 1, 2010
This review is from: We've All Been There (Audio CD)
I love listening to music. I'm a big Green Day and All-American Rejects fan, so my style is alternative rock. When I heard "Tonight" on the radio, it was different from my usual style, more of pop/rock. Nontheless, I looked up Alex Band and saw he was in The Calling. I had heard "Wherever You Will Go" and liked it, so I decided to get We've All Been There on iTunes because is was very cheap for 15 songs and 2 videos. Now, I love listening to Alex when he comes on in shuffle. Here is a track-by-track rating:

We've All Been There: 8/10
What Is Love: 9/10
Tonight: 10/10
Forever Yours: 10/10
Please: 8/10
Will Not Back Down: 10/10
Euphoria: 10/10
Never Let You Go: 9/10
Only One: 9/10
Leave (Today Is The Day): 9/10
Holding On: 10/10
Without You: 10/10
Love: 8/10
Start Over Again: 9/10
Cruel One: 10/10

We've All Been There, in my opinion, rates up as high as Move Along and American Idiot. So buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Glad I Found It!!, April 8, 2011

I heard the song "Without You" somewhere, and tried to find it. Listened to the thumbnail sample of each track, and liked it enough to take the chance on purchasing the album. And I'm really glad it did. The title track is really fun, terrific for working out to, as are 4 or 5 others on the album.

It's kind of Pop Rocky, but what is so wrong with that? Max has a terrific voice, and the arrangements are very infectious. Allow yourself to enjoy the music. It ain't high art, but it is high fun.....

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't stop listening to this!, March 15, 2011
I play this in my car, and when I put in another CD, I immediately start missing Alex Band! I can't get enough!
If you were a fan of The Calling, then you will love Alex solo. I think this CD is better than the 2 previous Calling CDs. My favorite song is Will Not Back Down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Effort, March 11, 2011
This review is from: We've All Been There (Audio CD)
I was glad to see that Alex Band hung in there and finally got this album to market. It was definitely not a wasted effort. Alex's voice is as fine as ever and always pleasing to listen to.
The songs themselves are good. Not great, but good. I particularily liked "Please" and "Euphoria". The production on the cd is a bit overblown-- fortunately Alex's voice is more than capable of rising above the excess. Unfortunately, the production values make the songs feel a bit dated. Nevertheless, the cd is a pleasure to listen to and worth owning.
My only real gripe? What is with that cover art?

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album!!, February 12, 2011
It took such a long time for Alex to put out this album but it was worth it! Not a filler song in the bunch. Each one pure gold. With a mix of rock and ballad, Alex explores love of the secular kind and the spiritual kind. Get wait to here more from him!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Peak of the Mountain, October 11, 2010

Alex Band does exactly what the greatest artists in the world do in their craft, and that is illustrate a picture, using sound, that strikes inside an individual's soul. His music is resonant and almost ethereal. Truly an epic album that should be heard by everyone. Furthermore, his words assist in accepting the trials, tribulations, and successes that are conducive to this existence. Personally, there wasn't one song that didn't grasp a heart-string with the magnitude of a g-force F-18 flyby.

Great job!! Keep this train rolling!
