Book Description

Harlequin Temptation November 1, 2004
When a gorgeous stranger walks into the carnival tent where Riley Addison is telling fortunes, it's lust at first sight. So what else can she do but give him a glimpse of a possible future--one that would be very good for both of them? After that, all she has to do is show up at his hotel--in a hot little red dress, of course....

Marketing exec Jackson Lange has never fallen so hard, so fast. And he has every intention of taking the sultry fortune-teller up on her offer--until she introduces herself as his co-worker and personal nemesis, Riley Addison. Still, Jackson isn't giving up--he wants her, no matter how much they disagree. And with the seduction he's planned, he's confident Riley won't be arguing with him for long....

4.0 out of 5 stars A dreamy romance., November 8, 2004

This review is from: We've Got Tonight: Heat (Harlequin Temptation) (Mass Market Paperback)
Riley Addison works in Prestige Residential Construction's accounting department, located in Atlanta, Georgia. Normally she gets along great with everyone. However, recently the new head of the marketing department, located in New York, New York, has become a royal pain in the back side. Riley simply could not double his budget, nor could she justify his $743.82 dinner expense. Riley knows the guy must be crazy and refuses the wild requests at every turn.

Jackson Lange has never had anyone disagree with his spreadsheets, much less flat out tell him NO to what he believes to be needed expenses. He is positive Riley must be some sort of wicked witch. When his boss has him come down to Atlanta for the weekend, Jackson is determined to meet Riley early Monday morning before he has to fly back to New York. It is time to put the witch in her place.

Jackson arrives in Atlanta in time for a community festival. For fun he decides to have his fortune told, never knowing the hot gypsy lady is Riley. Both go hot upon seeing each other and set up a date for later in the night. But at the beginning of that late night date, they find out who each other are. Even so, the attraction is still strong. Can they keep business and pleasure separate? Or are they doomed to fail?

**** Lots of hot times in this Harlequin Temptation and lots of clashes as well. Jacquie D'Alessandro has readers eating (Boston Creams) out of her hands and begging for more. An excellent love story to keep you warm during those snowy nights. ****

4.0 out of 5 stars Short, steamy and fun, July 16, 2011

I stumbled upon Jacquie D'Allesandro by reading her historical romances which are fantastic but was thrilled to learn that I love her modern romances even more. She has a simple way of bringing people together and have them face real challenges that aren't too over the top and don't drag on forever. With this short Harlequin romance, she does exactly that with humor, sex appeal, and heart.

Riley Addison, head of accounting for Prestige Construction in Atlanta, is looking to reclaim her fun, carefree self. After putting her life on hold to look after her younger sister, she wants to go out and live and love the way she did before all of the drama and responsibility came down on her. While volunteering as a fortune teller for the annual company fair, she is instantly attracted to a mystery man who comes to her tent to have his fortune read. She boldly tells him that he's going to get very lucky and plans a midnight rendezvous with him at his hotel.

Jackson Lange is the new head of marketing for Prestige in New York. The CEO has invited him to Atlanta for the company fair and dinner weekend so he can get to know his colleagues. Not knowing anyone, Jackson entertains himself for the charity event by participating and spending money at all the booths, but when he enters the tent to get his fortune told, he's essentially poleaxed by the beautiful and sensual fortune teller and arranges to meet her at his hotel at midnight. When they meet at the hotel, they finally introduce themselves and realize that they are speaking to one another's bane of their existence. Riley is supposed to be the ice queen of accounting who keeps rejecting his budget and Jackson is supposed to be the old curmudgeon with delusions of grandeur. Riley politely excuses herself and runs away from the situation, but back at the office, they still can't deny their attraction to one another and throw caution to the wind. What could one night together do when they live so far apart from one another anyway?

This was a short fun read with lots of chemistry and the right amount of tension. The relationship is built at a nice pace and their actions and behaviors are realistic as they deal with the obstacles of seeing each other for only a short time. This author does battle of the sexes very well and this one won't disappoint.
