I love my EMMYS!!!,

These are fabulous speakers--the best I've ever owned.I got mine as a demo for a lot less money, but I was lucky. Especially if you have a smaller space & can afford them I'd say you can't really go wrong with these... As for the low bass--yes, I'm considering getting a subwoofer for the under 50 herz signals, but even WITHOUT one I've been incredibly impressed. On the soundtrack of 'Eye of the Beholder' the woofer cone(without grille due to a shipping incident) was pumping in and out with such ferocity that --well that's the 'slap in the face' that Wharfedale is so understandably famous for...This English loudspeaker I understand is well loved by all sorts of british musical legends such as Eric Clapton, the Stones, etc. Now I know why! Go get 'em!!!

These speakers produce a very clean sound. I replaced a Bose AMIII with these speakers and can't believe the music I was missing. The oak cabinets are drop dead beautiful. If you want to hear the music the way the artist intended, buy these speakers.

The best sounding speakers I have ever heard,

I recently replaced my venerable 16 year old Advent speakers with a pair of Wharfedale Emerald 93s. The first thing you notice is they are so much smaller and lighter than the Advents, how can they possibly sound as good?Well let me tell you, these speakers have the cleanest, most transparent, warm and sweet sound I have ever heard come from any speaker (with the possible exception of my Sennheiser headphones). The sound stage they produce is well defined and sounds three dimensional. They don't sound like good speakers, they just sound like the musicians are in the room with you. These speakers truly produce "the sound" I have been looking for from my audio equipment for over 30 years. Even before fully broken in (they need 60-100 hours to fully open up) they are marvelously bright and full. They produce more bass than a box that size normally would (due to the ported design), but without it being over powering or boomy. The high end is accurate without the tinny/hissy quality I hear in too many speakers these days. I would also definitely recommend biwiring, which they are equipped to do. The bottom line...try them, you'll be pleased with the result.

I have lived with KLH and Klipsch for many years. Recently I upgraded my sound system and blew a (brittle) KLH. I replaced the KLH's with Warfedale and was born again. A great, beautiful and sparkling sound. Do yourself a favor and do the same. A wonderful bargain on Amazon!

I bought these for a second stereo in the bedroom. After giving them a good listen, I may replace the main ones! They are very acurate, great low end for such a small speaker, and an overall warm, detailed sound. Very pleased.

Emerald 93 Excellent value,

I have spend considerable amounts of time in audiophile boutiques in various parts of the country and been astounded by some of he pricing involved in stereo equipment. These speakers are easily the best "value for money" I have purchased in a long time. They are beautiful finely crafted solid speakers with a sound quality that is clear, transparant, yet very warm. If you guard your budget carefully and aim to stretch your dollar for audiophile quality- then this is your speaker. Enjoy. HFG.

A little bigger than other bookshelf speakers so you can't exactly hide these, but the sound is wonderful, rich, detailed and good low frequency... perhaps not the best for rock or rap, but perfect for anything else. AND they are as good looking as any speakers I have seen, with a pleasing vintage style

My living room, den and bedroom have all been blessed with the Wharfedale name! The Emerald 93s serve as the "bedroom theater" pair, and are just outstanding with their rich, full and spacious sound. Mount them at ear level, connect with top-of-the-line Monster Cable speaker wire, an added "super tweeter," and subwoofer, the room shakes the rafters!. I smile everytime a sonic boom, scream, or trickle, emits from these fine babies! You can't go wrong with the 93s! ... I'm proud to own these babes!

better than my ears,

First, i think they're maple not oak, but in any case, and it is the first point, they are beautiful. "veneer" does not do them justice. This is furniture.More important is the sound. I had some very fine and now 22 year old EPI speakers which i thought were wonderful. They were but some things are finer.I was reluctant to buy speakers online without listening, but the reviews and good price made me take the chance. They are as good as 350$ each bookshelf speakers i've listened to. They have great power handling capacity (if you value your and your neighbours eardrums). Tonight i have listened to Mozart wind concertos(or as we cognescenti say, concerti), Richard Thompson, and Buddy Guy. The only objection i have to these speakers is that the bass can sound a little punchy on the classical stuff. But honestly, this may have to more to do with the acoustics of my living room( beaucoup de wood, no carpet) than the speakers themselves. I ruined my ears before i loved anything but blues, but these speakers, at this price are great. And by the way the EPI's are doing great service as rear speakers for surround. |
