5.0 out of 5 stars A Complete Reference for Cardiovascular Fitness, July 25, 2006
This review is from: The Whartons' Cardio-Fitness Book: The Step-by-Step Program for High Energy and Endurance (Paperback)

This book is designed to be a reference for cardiovascular fitness, with lots of information about your heart and how it functions, what can go wrong and why, and more important what you can do to get fit and healthy.

The book includes cardio-fitness programs that you can use to workout 30 minutes 3 times a week to obtain a better body, more energy, and a stronger heart.

Cardio-fitness worked out for me: Six years ago and armed with a Polar Heart Rate Monitor (the old M61) I was able to drop more than 200 lbs in about eight months, and the heart rate monitor training has helped me keep those lbs off for over six years. Not only I went from size 44 to size 32 pants, but also obtained substantial benefits that included weight control, cardiovascular improvements, lowered blood pressure, and improved muscular-skeletal strength and flexibility, but also the myriad of mental and psychological benefits derived from being in the best shape of my life.

You really can accomplish more, with less effort, than you ever imagined. The word "endurance" may conjure for you the image of someone climbing the Everest, a journey fill with pain and difficulty. But endurance in the sense of this book is related to activities that keep us moving hard enough and long enough to strengthen our hearts, and there is nothing painful or difficult above it, in fact is usually fun once you start it. When I first started training with the heart rate monitor I was unable to jog even for five uninterrupted minutes without gasping for air. After a few months I was able to go jogging for 90 uninterrupted minutes six days a week.

Absolutely a must have for anyone wanting to get in better shape, and feel strong and healthy.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Whartons' Cardio-Fitness Book: The Step-by-Step Program for High Energy and Endurance (Paperback)
as an individual who reads and purchases health and fitness related books, this is the only book I have found that focuses on cardio training for a number of exercises.
