The focus of her writing and teaching is on helping people be in the present moment and live the happy and fulfilled life that is possible and on shedding light on the ego and other programming that interferes with that. Gina's teachings are most similar to Eckhart Tolle's, Byron Katie's, Adyashanti's, and A Course in Miracles.

Wonderful, important reminders of who you really are.

Often times books of this nature are written at a level that although one can comprehend the intent, really, really take effort to understand.

I found this book by chance searching for books on DBT. Part of DBT is mindfullness-being in the moment. This book is perfect. I bookmarked on my new Kindle about 20 that are relevant for me on a regular basis. I love that they are short (1 Page) excerpts from her other books that can be read in a short period of time, hence almost used as a daily guide. Plan to look into her other books. If you want to quiet the brain and it's negative chatter- then this book is a good place to start.

Full Disclaimer: Gina Lake generously sends out copies of her books to certain people for review, of which I am one. Thus, one might make the assumption that if the reviewer gives the book a glowing review, they are doing so as a way to thank the author for the free book. I want to assure you that that is not the case here.

For example, I am in the Vine program here on Amazon, and thus am offered lots of free books every month or two (the only obligation is you have to review them). I have never said yes to anything they have offered to send me. With 10 spiritual books on my nightstand, I simply don't have time to read all the books I currently have. So, wanting more books just to have them is simply not of interest to me.

And now to one that is: WHAT ABOUT NOW? is a collection of powerful quotes from Gina's many previous books. Think of it as sort of a "greatest hits" collection of spiritual teachings. Here are a few quotes that been highlighted in my copy:

"When you are just present to what you are experiencing, you notice all sorts of sensory details that are usually overlooked... The ego isn't satisfied with these things because it isn't satisfied with anything."

"The ego gives us a false sense of knowing, which is comforting, even though it doesn't really know where life is going or what will happen next. So, all you really have to surrender is the pretense of knowing. The truth is that you don't know what the next moment holds."

How that last sentence "hits" you will tell you a lot about where you are on the "pathless path." Does your spirit celebrate the not knowing that Gina is writing about, or does your ego refuse to even consider letting go of the imaginary "life steering wheel" it likes to think it controls? Only YOU can answer this.

Although simple, this book is perfect for a quick reminder to stay present. The book is divided into one page bits of wisdom, reminding us to stay in the moment. I have it on my kindle and pick it up to read a page in those moments when I've become stressed or have forgotten to stay in the now.

Examples of sections include: Enjoy the simple pleasures, Experience your true self in the moment, Love what is or suffer, Choose how to respond to life, Stress is a sign you are believing the mind, Give up the drama.

If your reading time is scarce, do yourself a huge favor and invest in this little gem. It will repay the time you devote to it a million times over. If your heart's desire is to wake up and experience an unending supply of love and happiness, not in five, ten, or twenty years, but right now, the teachings in What about Now? will take you by the hand and show you the way.

Forget struggling to grasp unintelligible esoteric teachings! Gina Lake has crafted a remarkably easy read that distills the most profound wisdom into practical guidance. Written in easily digestible bits, one topic per paragraph, What about Now? offers a much needed roadmap on how to move out of the egoic mind and live from essence. Even the title prods us to make this shift by asking us to stop and question where we are putting our attention. The entire book is a priceless reminder that each moment is a gift, a blessed opportunity to move out of our heads and into our hearts. Simply reading it creates the experience of awakeness and will transform your life into a heaven on earth.

How fantastic to have all these wonderful "Best of" reminders from Gina Lake. I am a big fan of Gina's but even if you never read a single one of her books, these are perfect little "temple bells" ringing to wake us up out of the suffering of an imagined future, and a distorted story of the past. I can't tell you what guide her work has been for me personally, and this is just a gift to have on hand. Thanks Gina for always having a focus on how to support those of us that really want to live in the reality of NOW! I love it!

"What About Now" says much with brevity. One may easily select a topic of choice, contemplate that topic, and soak in its richness. Gina has selected topics that are poignant to us all as we walk in and with Essence. They truly are "Reminders For The Moment". As always Gina, Good job!

Such a lovely gift and light you are!

Gina Lake's books are a great source of support for awakening to the reality of life and love, and for living as that awake awareness in every moment. This delightful book is the one I choose to introduce friends to Gina and her work. It is a series of more than 150 excerpts from her books, each an elegant and powerful reminder pointing to recognizing and living from Essence, rather than egoic mind. Each excerpt is just a page long, and they can be read in any order. This makes "What About Now?" one of those special books you can just pick up, open to a page, and after a short read, be pointed back to consciousness, awareness, spirit, the whole, or whatever you prefer to call your true Self. Gina favors the word "Essence", and this book is the essence of her teachings about Essence. Don't miss it!
