5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Debut Cd From Heidi Newfield
Heidi Newfield decided to take the leap and go solo, after being with the great band Trick Pony. This cd has a little bit of everything, not like the cookie-cutter junk that passes for country music these days.
The disc opens with Can't Let Go, one that starts off with just a few instruments, then the whole band kicks in and rocks it up a notch. When Tears Fall Down...

When Tears Fall Down comes next, a mid-tempo song with layered background vocals that flow very smoothly with the song. Next we have the hit single Johnny And June, a song about finding that one true love, and already a fan favorite at Heidi's live shows. The title track, What Am I Waiting For, comes next and was co-written by ex-bandmates from Trick Pony, Ira Dean and Keith Burns, with help from Jeffrey Steele. A song with lyrics about taking risks and doing what you really want to do, and set to a bouncy melody. The fifth song is Love Her And Lose Me, a ballad about adultery and wondering about the other woman. Cry Cry ('Til The Sun Shines) is next, and is a catchy song, more of the country/pop variety. Next we have Wreck You, a very haunting and beautiful song that definitely stays in your head. Nothing Burns Like A Memory recalls the type of music that Trick Pony did, and Ira Dean is one of the writers on the song. Next is All I Wanna Do. A very slow song, and Heidi's voice has never sounded sexier than it does here. The cd closes with "Knocked Up", a song that has single potential, and is a fun song. I love this whole cd and have been listening to it contantly since it came out.
Heidi really sings on this cd in ways we didn't get to hear when she was in Trick Pony, and also was one of the writers on six of the songs. This cd is an amazing start to Heidi's solo career, and you can hear the effort she put into this.
Watch for Heidi opening some show for Brooks and Dunn this summer, and also touring solo.

5.0 out of 5 stars What we've been waiting for!, August 25, 2008
This review is from: What Am I Waiting For (Audio CD)
Heidi has done it again. She's created a great CD with songs that reflect her many talents as both songwriter and singer. She says it all in the song her grandmother says is her favorite-What Am I Waiting For-when she shows us what we've been waiting for - another hit CD. You've still got it, Heidi, and we love it! Her gutsy voice reflects the feeling behind the well-written words in the songs and I know it's been worth waiting for. Great job and great CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great cd for the summer, August 6, 2008
This review is from: What Am I Waiting For (Audio CD)
Heidi Newfield has come into her own with this cd. There is Love and heartbreak on this cd. This is one cd that i can really relate to. I loved Trick Pony and when i heared that she was leave the group i was sad but at the same time was excited to see what she could do on her own. I heard Johnny and June and i fell in love with it. Can't stop listening to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS FORMER "PONY" IS JUST AS GREAT AS A SOLO ACT, April 10, 2009
This review is from: What Am I Waiting For (Audio CD)
Former lead singer of the now defunked Trick Pony, Heidi Newfield proves that she can stand all on her own with her solo debut, "What Am I Waiting For." In my opinion, the attitude and delivery of these songs remind me of that of the truly great country ladies of years past(Tanya Tucker, Lorrie Morgan) back "in the day" before the Carrie's and Taylor's came along, and country music was about the music and not about the "American Idol" or the flash-in-pan singer of the moment. There are many memorable listening experiences on this album such as, "Cry, Cry (Til the Sun Shines Baby), the comical ending number, "Knocked Up" which could be a 2009 rendition of the classic Loretta Lynn "One's on the Way", and of course the top 15 single, "Johnny & June. If you are looking for a musical diversion from the tween scene you will enjoy this album. What are YOU waiting for?

5.0 out of 5 stars What Has Heidi Been Waiting For?, October 17, 2009
This review is from: What Am I Waiting For (Audio CD)
Heidi was previously the lead singer of the country band Trick Pony, but she then decided to go out on her own and by this excellent debut,it was the right decision!
Produced by legendary producer Tony Brown(George Strait,Reba McEntire)this is a fantastic collection of edgy pop/country.
It includes her current smash hit Johnny & June which is the real gem on the album.Great lyrics about the love between these two icons.Other great uptempos is the catchy Can't Let Go which starts off softly then leads into a blaze of drums, electric guitars and harmonica's and the very witty Knocked Up, this has future hit written all over it.Cracking song!Plus there's the title track What Am I Waiting For a great soulful uptempo. There's also the uplifting Cry Cry(Till The Sun Shines)which will have you singing along in no time.(This is also the same song that Martina McBride recorded for her Waking Up Laughing album)
There's also some beautiful acoustic style ballads too like Love Her And Lose Me and the gorgeous Wreak You.This song will stay with you!Beautiful.
Heidi has a fantastic, strong edgy voice that will have her standing out from the rest of the crowd. She also co wrote 6 of the 10 tracks.
Judging by this fantastic debut Heidi is gonna go a long way in country music.I highly recommend this gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars heidi kicks it off, April 9, 2009
I heard her single Johnny and June on the raido and had to own the song. I bought the cd and much to my liking its not all the same at all. You would think it was a different band for each song on the album. I love it. Good job heidi!

A very nice initial solo effort by Heidi. Her distinctive vocal stile comes through on most songs. I particularly liked Johnny and June and Nothin' Burns Like a Memory. The title song of the CD - What am I waiting fo is also well done.
