Book Description

October 1998
Fifty years ago, John Stott's Basic Christianity outlined the fundamentals of Christianity. And while the tenets of the faith have stayed the same, the audience has not. No longer does the general population believe in absolute truth. No longer is society biblically literate. For this critical time in history, Alistair Begg offers What Angels Wish They Knew. In this engaging, eloquent volume, Begg presents the truths of the Word of God, describing God's character, man's sinful state, God's gift of salvation to those who would receive it, and man's necessary response to God's gift. A book to read, share, and give away, What Angels Wish They Knew is a timely defense of our Christian faith at the close of the 20th century. It's perfect for those who want to fully understand and defend their beliefs, or for any seeking non-believer who wants to explore Christianity for the first time.

From AudioFile

A likable and engaging pastor pulls his listeners aside and confidently presses his ideas into their hearts. Chumminess with God, he says, leaves out an important article of faith--that we will be judged on whether we follow God's laws, in particular The Ten Commandments. We only have one life, here and now, in which to prove our allegiance and devotion to Jesus, so it's important not to be misled by New Age angels who don't understand the vastness of His love. Coming from the school that believes God's power is an infallible and fearsome aspect of Christianity, Begg says we should get in step with this power and stop looking for an easy way out of our sinfulness. 4.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking and compelling reading, May 24, 1999

A. Begg clearly talks about what it means to be a Christian. I think this is an excellent resource for Christians and also a book that will cause non-Christians to think again about their beliefs and consider Christ.

Clear and inspired instruction from a teacher who gets it right. Compares favorably with C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity."

This book reminded me a lot of "More Than a Carpenter" which I prefer over this book, becuase of the ways you can use "More Than a Carpenter" but this book was well put together, flows very easily and a quick read for those wanted some basic answers to the Christian faith.

Alistair Begg is a great teacher and pastor and this book is definitely a picture of how he teaches and that is making some hard subjects easy to understand. If you own "More Than a Carpenter" there is no need to pick up this book as they are very similar in content and defense.
