5.0 out of 5 stars A great family book for all!, August 23, 2004
This review is from: What Are Parents? (Hardcover)
I love this book! The book is really what the word parent is all about! The words are filled with love and the pictures is wonderfully illustrated. The first time I read the book I cried. You can tell that the authors was speaking from their heart also the book is really fun to ready over and over again because it rhymes. When I purchased this book my daughter who is 3yrs would not let it go. She slept with it, watch T.V with it, and wanted the book to go in the bath with her. I recommend this book for all types of families not just families with two moms. I'm looking forward to reading more books from the Authors Kyme and Susan Fox-Lee.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the meaning of the word Parent., August 25, 2004
This review is from: What Are Parents? (Hardcover)
I'm a grandmother who is raising my grandchildren and I love the way the authors included all families. Parent is a word that describes "love", someone who is willing to do all the things that is necessary to raise and care for a child. I believe that the author's book really talks about the issue on a very basic level that children can understand and not feel like they are alone in being in a non-tradional but loving family.

5.0 out of 5 stars honest, endearing and sweet portroyal, August 6, 2005
This review is from: What Are Parents? (Hardcover)
As a child of two moms myself, there were few resources that positively modeled my family situation. "What Are Parents?" is an honest, endearing and sweet portroyal of what it means to be in all kinds of families that are uniquely special. I only wish that I could have seen this book when I was growing up. Kyme and Susan Fox-Lee are to be applauded for their heart warming portrayal of families of millions of kids who the media denies exposure or acknowledgement. I hope that "What Are Parents?" can reach and touch all the different kinds of families it joyously portrays!

Clear, bright color illustrations sharply contrasted with thick outlines bring to life the celebrations of parenthood and new mothers and fathers of all types sharing the joy of holding their newborn children, and embarking upon the long, difficult, and ultimately rewarding experience of raising a human being. A delight to read aloud and share with the very young.
