Rockin' new cd from Australian four piece,
By Rob (Melbourne, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What Are Rockstars Doing Today (Audio CD)
After one listen you will be hooked. Let's just say this band ROCK!! A great variety of tracks, from pedal to the metal rifforama like City trash, Pace it & Rockstars to sing along catchy numbers Supagloo & the first single Dirty Jeans (with hand claps & a chorus that you'll be singing for days) The influences are as varied, anywhere from Kyuss/Queens Of The Stone Age to Blondie and the Pretenders. Magic Dirt are a great live band and the production on this cd deserves a mention. Produced by Phil Vinall, he has done justice to a fine band. So buy this cd, have a barbeque, ..., play it loud. Rockin' Aussie style!!

Australian post grunge indie hard pub rock - what mouthful!,
By Paul Lawrence "'EJL'" (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What Are Rockstars Doing Today (Audio CD)
Does what is says on the tin does this album by one of the more reliable hard pub rockers on the Australian club date circuit. Magic Dirt comprise Raul Sanchez I Jorge on (G), Dean Turner (B), Adam Robertson (D) and one Adalita on vox and extra guitar. The band play pretty much what my title says and they do it quite well. The full bodied rock contained on this - what is ultimately a fairly simple album - saw the band riding on a high domestically and it's probably the overall quality of proceedings that makes this such a dependable listen. It is an album...by that I mean that you can listen to it from end to end and it works in your car, in your home and hanging out with mates. It works as a collective work rather than as just a couple of signature singles.
Production was by Phil Vinall and it complements the honesty of the album, the musicianship is subjugated to the needs of the song and Adalitas expressive `non expressive' is very much in tune with the various emotions the album runs through. By the way the booklet comes with full lyrics and I should point out that if you like this album they have a range of other albums out there in the ether. Lastly I should mention that as this is an Australian album you may notice that here on Amazon it can be a bit pricey so check out your other options of getting yourself a copy. |
